  1. Take a look at the Mizuno MP-58 irons. You'll be pleasantly surprised with the feel, distance and forgiveness of the MP58s...the top-line is thin at address. Has everything you're looking for. Here's a review on them: http://thesandtrap.com/?s=mp58.est You may want to go to your local course when they have their demo club day and try them out. Good luck.
  2. Halcon - go to the Mizuno forum and post your data there. One of the mods should be able to provide you with the info. Here's a link to a reply that someone received for their swing data: http://www.mizunoforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t;=1222
  3. This is what I received from Scotty Cameron support:
  4. msd: Thanks for the info...I think I will send my TeI3 to BOS. One of my local golf shops recommended that I send my putter to Scotty Cameron but I don't want the Pro Platinum finish. The prices on BOS' restoration is much more reasonable. I'll take some before and after picture and post it once it gets restored.
  5. The finish on the TeI3 putter has a high gloss black, oil can finish. Care must be taken with the finish as moisture will cause the finish to pit if left unattended. The teryllium insert as the posters above me explained, is made of copper alloy which can easily scar. I bought one new back in '97 and played with it for thru 2003, which is starting to show it's age. The nice black gloss finish has been worn on the bottom of the putter, the insert has multiple pits and scratches so I will probably need to send it in for a complete refinish which is around $175.
  6. Nice. I'm going to do this to all my irons. It'll say, "This club belongs to WXYZ ABCDE. If you find this club, call me at 123-456-7890. Thank you." What's the smallest type font available to make this happen?
  7. +1! I got lucky and found a new Leupold GX-I Golf Rangefinder about 2 months ago for $240 shipped on eBay. Since using it, I find it extremely useful for getting accurate yardage, especially at courses where I'm not familiar with and when I walk a round. Though useful, you can live without one if you haven't been spoiled by the cart and hand-held GPS'.
  8. If you feel comfortable with your 20+ year old set, then keep them. Clubs have evolved over time so you may see a significant improvement with playability and forgiveness with current sets. I'd at least go out to your local golf course when they have their club demo days and try a few sets just to get a feel for what's out there now. A set of Mizuno MP-57 (3-PW) for $250 is a great deal. The lowest price I've seen a used RH set go for is around $350. And yes, Mizunos are great irons but that's a matter of personal preference. You'll need to decide whether the MX or the MP series irons are better suited to your game.
  9. It's personal preference. I typically upgrade my irons 5-7 years and keep the replaced irons as backup. Also, I routinely have the irons' lie and loft checked to ensure they're correctly aligned since I hit off artificial turf at my local range.
  10. Congrats! Curious...were the irons fitted to your swing or did they come that way new?
  11. I know this is an old thread but my 2 cents...I'd have called Mizuno to let them know I was shipping them a set of irons that you suspect "may" be knock-offs, and you'd like to verify the authenticity. Then I'd have contacted the seller and let him know that he can contact the Mizuno rep directly, who is handling the case. I'd let the seller and rep deal with this issue and leave it at that. This leaves the buyer free from any wrong-doing and eliminate any liabilities. Btw, the heads on these irons look pretty authentic...just the ferrule and shaft don't look to be the typical stock Mizuno parts. If these are verified to be "fakes", the manufacturers are getting really good at cloning golf clubs.
  12. The common courtesy is for them to wave you through. On days where everyone is backed up, slim chance you're going to get anyone to let you play through. If it were me, and I noticed the group ahead didn't have anyone in front of them, then I'd wait until there was a hole where you can leap frog them and skip a hole.
  13. Hahahahahahaha...ROFLMAO! Btw, you stationed at Mountain Home AFB? How's the base course there?
  14. I don't like bong_crosby, even though he's a fellow Air Force.
  15. Magnetic bracelets are about as effective as penis enlarger pills. I kid...the pills actually work.
  16. For me, this is a matter of personal preference. I like to keep my grips consistent so I stay with one type/brand for all the clubs in my bag, except for my putter.
  17. You may want to read this link and this . I have medium hands, wearing medium cadet glove - the medium grips feel just right to me.
  18. There's a thread with a poll on this subject. I like a da Winn Excel medium grips...love the tacky and rubbery feel. They wear out a little quicker depending on frequency of play. I've been using the Winns grips on my clubs for over 12 years.

    Pet Peeves

I know exactly what you mean. I shot a decent 40 in the front, waited 20 minutes on the 11th and proceeded to butcher the back. Up until that time, we were all within a shot of one another - every one of us shot poorly in the back.

I hate playing a round of golf for 5 hours behind a very slow group in 90*+ weather. A 20 minute wait on one hole is absolutely ridiculous.
  21. I've owned one of those SKB hard case and didn't like the size so I bought the Club Glove travel back. I've had it for over 12 years and have taken it on a few trips to Florida and South Carolina. It's durable and has enough pockets for shoes and accessories. It's a bit more than the other similar models though.
  22. Golfers are typically honest. When I used to work at a golf course part time, I've found and turned in clubs, head covers, sunglasses, wallets and few other personal items. Never even thought for a second about not turning them in. Glad to hear you got your rangefinder. I'm using a Leupold GX-1 Digital and find it very useful.

  24. I likey da Winns. You do have to change them more frequently than the average grips but I love the feel.
  25. Has anyone replaced their hybrid graphite shafts with steel? I'm thinking of replacing mine - I can't seem to go after the ball like used to with my Callaway 7 wood. Regarding the off-set, it does it some used to.
