  1. A white belt? Are you batting for the other team?
  2. Things the normal player doesn't have to deal with: 1. A 750 million dollar divorce settlement! ;)

    Confessional

WRONG. He has to bring his first born son to the 18th green at midnight for a ritual sacrifice. That is the only way.
  4. I say pull it! Last week I had a 8 foot par putt hit a small weed about a foot short of the cup and kick right.

Well that makes sense, but in this case it was only 4 PM, still plenty of daylight left. It's funny, I forgot to add we saw this guy again on the course. We were teeing off on 11, he was on 17 (!) in the fairway. He topped a shot that rolled about 50 yards, lucky for him it was down hill. I just shook my head!

    Speed golf

Maybe someone can explain the point of this... So I finally convinced my friend to join me for some golf a few weeks back, and he is hooked. I gave him some old clubs as a starter set and he actually isn't that bad for a newbie but of course he has a ways to go. We've only been out twice thus far, today being his second full round. We get to the course and it is empty, perfect I thought. We play through four holes and on the fifth fairway (long par 5) I notice this single speed up to the tee box. I was thinking "what the hell?" because the 4th holes green is right next to the 5ths tee box and I didn't even see the guy on the green at all. Whatever I thought, I'll let him play through on the next hole. We got to the 6th tee box and I was feeling good, so I hit my drive. Not two seconds later I see this guy speeding up behind us. No way I thought, he was still on the fairway on that long par 5 when we were getting off the green. Well I was kind of dumbfounded and told him to go ahead and play, maybe this guy was a course pro or something and was so good he just played that fast. He hits his drive maybe 100 yards to the right, behind a large tree. Wow. He practically runs over to his cart, speeds up the path to the ball, yanks out a club and whacks it dead straight, but only about 20 yards. Still in the rough. He rushes up to the ball, whacks it again this time about 50 yards back onto the fairway. He now has about 150 yards to the pin. He finally hit a decent shot which landed on the front of the green. A quick pitch and put and he's off to the races (i.e. the next tee box). It looked like a comic show. This clown was taking zero practice swings, walking very fast to his ball, driving his cart like he stole it, and was absolutely terrible. Again, can anyone make any sense of this? I've never seen anything like it.
  7. Worse than Guinness? Damn that must be some nasty stuff. I have never drank while playing golf, even on outings. Part of me feels it would help me because I am not a sloppy drunk but I tend to get tense and over think things. I think a few would help me relax. I've heard the term "swing lube" before. I'm playing tomorrow might have a few marzens before hand...
  8. I found one for 63 dollars shipped on ebay, in decent shape. Best money I've spent yet on any club, I went from erratic at best to hitting around 5-7 fairways a round and barely missing the rest. My driver used to easily be my worst club until now. I crushed a Nike Juice ball the other day 280, for me that is unreal. My best on my old TM 580 was 250.
  9. It's funny, I was just about to start a thread about my hybrids and how I've been hooking the hell out of them too. I don't understand it. They used to be my go to clubs, now I can't hit them straight to save my life.
  10. I have plenty of schools and parks near me so I will only go to a range if I want to work with my driver. I love the people who go to ranges and hit chip shots that make them look like the pro's then on the course they are taking 3 inches of dirt with them and their ball goes 5 feet.
  11. I think it depends where you play. In high school I used to caddy at a high end country club and everyone had new clubs every year pretty much. Some were good, some weren't. On real nice public courses you see a lot of the expensive bags/clubs but crappy players. On regular or lower level public courses you get the good players with old bags/clubs.
  12. A similar thing happened to my father in law, but he didn't slow up anything. What happened was for his birthday I found a deal on matching wedges, so I bought them and gave him one as a gift. On the 4th fairway he realized he didn't have it, he thought he left it on the last green but he really just put it in my bag instead of his. I didn't notice I had two of the same wedges. It was no biggie though, all he did is drive back to the last hole then meet up with us where we were, by then I realized what had happened!

    Etiquette

+1 On a side note, why does it seem like everytime I get waived through I hit a terrible shot? Never fails...smh
  14. I always play with my father in law, and the other day he invited one of his friends from work. So this guy in the parking lot he says "let's make it interesting, we'll play a dollar a hole?" I said OK that's fine, and my father in law agreed. The course was long so I was using Nike PD long balls, I seem to hit them the farthest. Only problem is I can't get a feel for them while putting or chipping so I am lucky to get away with a two putt in most cases. Around the 7th hole and my second 3 putt, I started bitching that I don't like these balls on the greens. I know I know, it's not the ball it's me, but it made me feel better :D Well I noticed something about that same time. The new guy had hit his drive into a wet area, yet his ball on the green looked brand new. Not a spec of dirt or grass on it. Hmm, that's weird I thought. Sure as hell next hole I paid attention after he marked his ball, he was swapping out with a brand new pro V1 on the greens. I thought that was shady as hell.
  15. That about sums it up right there.
