  1. What a finish! Hollywood got nothing on PGA tour when it comes to creating excitement!
  2. Without a doubt. I was crossing fingers that Watney would suffer some bogeyproducing nerves so that a bunch of players could be in contention. (no offence Watney. And thanks!)
  3. Nevermind. My eyes must have deceived me when i read 63 for Liang
  4. If you exclude the payment thing it should be a pretty straight forward thing to set up. Its only logic :) Heck, im intrigued!
  5. Alittle update . Was considering waiting till the winter set in to move on to rebuilding my swing, but today i just had to give it a shot. I followed the deep hands drill and focused on starting the backswing with moving the hands abit more inside than i used to while at the same time keeping my right arm more connected(used a golfglove under the armpit). Early results : A feeling of a more controlled, and not to mention feeling of a more powerful coil. Alot less vertical movement of the head and upper body, which should be leading to more consistent shotmaking(atleast reduing tops/duffs) The glove thing i believe helped me stop crossing the plane in the backswing The testing was verified when my worst enemy, the hybrid, was given a test. The first shots when distance was not the issue was pretty decent. Some draws and some fades, but not the usual top/duff distasters. Also my back whined in new places, telling me i've atleast done something different :) I will bring a videocamera with me tomorrow and hopefully verify my findings. But so far, so good. So thanks for the tips!
  6. What he said. I have myself had problems with getting my head in the way of making shots over water within distances i am confident on making without water. What i started to focus on was first of, getting the right distances to within +-5 meters. Then when i have the distance under control i just thought to myself "pin is just around 145 yards, its just a regular 8 iron" The thing is confidence in that you can do it, it takes some practice to mentally block out the water but eventually it will be just another shot.
  7. Sorry, was'nt my intention to insinuate anything, it just clicked with the article i had read. meenman. It kinda stinks that carting is how its usually done in the states i must say. The times i've rented a cart (sometimes abroad during a 36 hole day) i feel i am missing out on getting to know the course, which i get from walking it. Another thing is that a flight of 4 are reduced to 2 flights of 2, where you meet up on the tee and green for a chat. Not to forget the excerise you get when walking.
  8. Just read an article in a Norwegian newspaper that stated that around 70million Americans are dangerously fat, and i cannot help but seeing a pattern. Here in Norway carts are in most cases reserved for people with either disabilities or an injury. Kids which are old enough to swing a club and get their ball a reasonable distance is old enough to walk. Walking is not dangerous to your health :)
  9. What he said ^
  10. Tried to find it on youtube but to no prevail. You happen to have the link ?
  11. I am one of those who gets extremely frustrated, while at the same time i know i will never make money on golf and know that i should'nt make such a fuzz when having a terrible couple of holes. As you say its a game that really means nothing. I myself cannot for the life of me convince myself it doesnt matter, although i give it my best shot. I just hate not getting the round done properly. At the same time i believe that this is more complex than hobby vs job, and personality comes heavily into play.
  12. And somehow it became the most iconic picture of Seve. I love how he celebrates, its just so pure and true. The same with Payne Stewart after his US Open win.
  13. Thanks for the quick and very helpful pointers. I've noticed throughout the years that my shoulder turn is too horizontal, but never got around to get any work done with it. Another problem ive had on all my clubs, it looks good until a point, then i just go alittle further and the club is crossing the plane. Irons have gotten alot better, but i have'nt gotten around to focus on it with the woods yet. Yepp, i have always felt i've had a bit cramped follow-through, seeing that the left arm wants to pull back to quickly and not extend naturally. As i understand it deep hands and the shoulder-turn is connected, so ill get to work with the deep hands drill and see what "immediate" difference i can notice(atleast feel) I'll get rigged with a tripod and record from some proper angles.
  14. So i've gotten around to focus properly on the driver, as that have been my on-off club for a long while now. up until recently ive had a swing that was all about distance through a spine-breaking turn and an exaggerated lag. Figured out after watching the Jaqcuelin swing in another thread that if driving can look that easy, i might just aswell go down that road. The main problem i have when things go awry is a big ugly straight-fade. The videos were taken today at the local range. Any pointers in any direction would be highly appreciated. Regular speed ( Sorry for the 13 second delay before the shot) At 12fps ( and a messed up aspect ratio as a bonus )
  15. Have never taken notice of Jacquelins swing before, but sweet mother of all good things, that is a breeze of a swing! Easily one of my favourites now.
  16. Does something similar myself. I take out 3 pin positions with varying distance on the chipping green, then chip 2 balls to each of them( switching pin on each shot). Then i go putt out. I pretend the par for my little'ol course is 12 so i have some pressure.
  17. I made my own scorecard in excel(generic and for my homecourse) where i can track most of the interesting stuff, then when im back home i enter the stuff in an online db for stats. The more stuff i noted down on any given clubs scorecard, the messiness soon became a fact, so i decided to just make my own :)
  18. Trust your read. Get as close to plane on the green to get a proper read on the putt, walk off the green if necessary. When figured out how the putt will go, trust this read when over the ball and putting. Focusing on this have done wonders to my puttingstats.

    Pet Peeves

I meant go completely mental, not just a single word of encouragement to the ball. I tend to give a "come on, go on!" if there is some doubt of where the ball will end up, but nothing like an 5 second verbal battlecry. Exactly, you aknowledged someone giving cred for your shot. Its not like im talking about incorporation a person into your will, but just ack'ing by either a nod or thanks does the trick(in my book atleast)
  20. Great stuff! Ill do some bunkerpractice for a change tomorrow and try out this technique.
  21. I use anything from 5iron to 60', it all depends on factors like distance to flag, how far from the green i am chipping from, ondulations both outside and on the green, speed of the green, dangers related to a possible mishit with a given club. Greenside play is the part of the game where imagination and individual style really comes into play, therefore experiment with alot of shottypes with different clubs.
  22. Anything that makes it easier with the lobwedge is worthy of giving a shot. Care to outline the specific technique when using the 8iron ?
  23. Just wanted to say hello and cheers from Norway. Been lurking the forum for some time but figured out i have more than enough inside-time in Norway because of the glorious summer weather and horrible seasonal injustice we are blessed with here, so might aswell spend it well on the sandtrap forum.
  24. Lots of nice courses around Oslo, but as Zeph pointed out there are in many cases a maximum handicap for play. Losby G & CC(just outside Oslo, 25 minute drive from the University) HCP limit on the 18 hole, but the 9 hole course(a very good 9 hole course is free for all). This is my homeclub. Hosted a Ladies European Tour event a few years ago. Grønmo(Gronmo) 20 minute drive from the university. No HCP limit i believe Hauger : 25 minute drive from the uni. Pretty good 18 hole course, no HCP limit. Bærum GC : No HCP limit, but max 2 36 hcp`er per flight. There are more courses, but either very expensive or with max HCP reqs. Bogstad, Miklagard is expensive at 900nok for 18 holes.
  25. 1) Reaching a HCP of 10 or less. Started the season at 16.7 and is currently at 12.7, so target is well within reachability. 2) Reaching a state of thinking target instead of thinking "please" when on the tee. This state is visited more and more often lately which directly relates to target 1
