  1. Hi, I am trying to figure out what size grips to buy. I wear a small cadet glove, and most ladies grips feel about right in my hands. All my shafts should be cut down .5", but I'm waiting for Winter. Meanwhile, I have been playing by choking down on my grips by about .5" to make the shaft shorter and the grip smaller. All my shafts are .600 except for my hybrid which is a .625. All the ladies/undersized grips I have found are all .580 core sized. It is my understanding that a .580 core grip on a .600 shaft would produce both a slightly larger grip and a firmer grip. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have also heard that nowadays it is standard procedure to install a .580 grip on a .600 shaft which makes a slightly oversized grip, but not quite midsized. The grips on my driver and 3-wood are definitely .580's but the grips on my irons aren't marked (mizuno branded tour velvets). Am I better off putting standard men's .600 grips on my shafts or .580 ladies grips on my shafts, which will be smaller in final diameter? Also, I guess I'm stuck putting whatever grip I end up choosing on my .625 hybrid too, which will run a little bigger than everything else in my bag? Thanks in advance, catfell
  2. Everardo, I've been putter shopping and have been trying to find a Cameron Stainless Newport 2 to try (not the current Studio Style). Can you compare how your Stainless Newport 2 feels compared to either the Detour, Studio Style or current TM Rossa putters? (The aforementioned three putters are the only ones I have been able to try out.) I realize putters are a personal feel thing, but can't get my hands on one to feel. Thanks, catfell
  3. Thanks Sonicblue, I was originally going to send a PM, but thought others might benefit from Gas Can's or anyone else's answer. -catfell
  4. Gas Can, A while back you reccomended Max at Custom Golf in Conneticut for clubfitting. (I'm in the NYC area and looking to get my existing clubs fit for me.) Apparently Max has since moved on, and the shop did not provide any info as to his whereabouts. Any idea where he is now, and/or anyone else you would reccomend? One or two more things: I am 5'5" and am pretty sure I need to cut down all my clubs, as well as flatten the lie. Does it make sense to go to a clubfitter and have both done at the same time? Or is it more sensible to just cut down the clubs, then afterwards get my lie fitted with my clubs at their proper length? Currently I choke up on my clubs about a finger width to effectively both shorten the club and have a smaller better fitting grip. Thanks, catfell
  5. I just picked up an Adams Idea Pro 20* hybrid on that unnamed auction site. The club was new, plastic still on the head, bubble wrap on the head with a sticker with 57651 Y.C. written on it. The headcover was still in sealed plastic and both the club and headcover were in a sealed bag. I took the club out to look for a serial number, and on the sole it's marked "Tour Prototype". Anybody want to fathom a guess as to what makes this club different than one that doesn't say "Tour Prototype"? Should I get the lie and loft checked to make sure my club's specs are as what I thought I was buying? The club came with a golf pride dual durometer grip, which is not what is listed on Adams' website for this club. Just wondering, catfell
  6. I think like anything else, it's a matter of what feels good to you. Clearly you have been buying shoes for yourself for your entire lifetime, and I think by now you know what feels good and what does not feel good. With the advancements in shoe materials, very few shoes need the same kind of break-in, and subsequently the experience to know what will break in well and what won't, is not as critical as it used to be. If the foot-joy fits, wear it. Good luck with your search, catfell
  7. InTheTwenties, Are you talking about the World of Golf downtown near Wall St. or the townhouse in Midtown? -catfell PS. gas_can, thanks for the suggestion. I just gotta borrow a friend's car to get up to CT. But I'm going to try and see what's in town first.
  8. Don't forget craigslist. I got a great deal on a barely used set of Mizuno MP-60's. I was able to check out the irons in person, not pay shipping and it was still over $100 cheaper than the going ebay prices. catfell
  9. Hi, I'm looking for good clubfitter in the NYC area. I need to shorten all my clubs, flatten the lies and regrip to a smaller diameter grip and have no idea who does good work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, catfell
