A good coot is a dead coot Skulling the shot would be an accident. Regaring Tripp, if this is proven... "Isenhour allegedly said, ``I'll get him now,'' and aimed for the hawk." It shows he meant to hit that hawk. Guilty. Case closed. Actually...he'll probably settle out of court with a sizable donation made to the Humane Society to make this all go away.

I'm sure you realize you play a different game than 99.9% of us on this forum. To be in the same league as long drive champs is not what people around here are aspiring to be. I'm long, by normal standards, but not 'LDC long'. It's funny because I played with a fellow club member on Tuesday at a new golf course...he's an older gentleman with game, not a long hitter - just straight. He complimented me after the round saying he enjoyed watching me play and could only imagine hitting shots like me. I imagine it would be interesting to play golf with you, watching these big drives. My only advice to you would be...keep 'em in play, otherwise I'm gonna get you. What does "Handicap Index: 3 (once)" mean? Do you not carry a valid index?

I switched to 'cross-handed' on July 28, 2007 and haven't looked back.

In my best Will Ferrell voice... "Refutation". Is that even a word? -
It looks like he was talking more about lemay427's posts. The whole "high weight/low reps" vs. "low weight/high reps" argument resulting in a "why comment if you don't know" comment. Something tells me you're gonna get an earful (eyeful?) in that thread when he logs back in Stay tuned!!

Which thread/post was this? I'd like to check it out.

Yeah, the whole thread is funny. I was just stirring the pot. Just because someone doesn't want advice from a higher handicapper or someone who's "studying" the game, doesn't mean they should all stop posting. This is all about reading and writing opinions, advice (both solicited and unsolitcited), and being entertained IMO. We shouldn't take these things too seriously. Does he keep those long drives in the fairways? Does he need help with that?

350 all day long??? Puh-leeze...What rubbish!

Grand Slam. It is time.

That Natalie comment is harsh. Between the two, Paula is my girl.

Can you break 100 at Torrey Pines in US Open setup?
powerfade replied to seattlemudder's topic in Golf Talk
If I brought my "A" game, then yes, I could do it. "B game? Possibly. Anything less...no chance. Take a look at your last 20 rounds. Look closer at the 10 that are not counted in your index (anti-handicap). With all the anticipated pressure and course setup, just figure you're going to score worse than your worse anti-capped round...probably by several strokes. -
I wonder if Johnny Miller would like his leg action?

I ground the club. There's too big a risk in accidentally touching/moving the ball (when not on the tee).

Just forget about it. You weren't actually golfing. You need to be on the golf course, focusing on your target. You're a 10hcp...having a bad range session shouldn't affect you.

Seek professional help. Even if it's in the form of a book. You know what they say...you can tell a lot about the character of a person on the golf course. People that go off the deep end probably have an anger management issue in other aspects of their life. I've worked hard to reduce my anger on the course. I'm not the same golfer I was 3 years ago. It's carried over to my normal life...or maybe it's visa versa? I simply don't blow up on the course anymore. My play has improved because I keep my head in the game. The anger doesn't carry over for 3 holes anymore. Another thing...if anyone uses the excuse that you're just blowing off steam or venting. You're kidding yourself. You're more like a timebomb that will go off at the next bad shot. Ask your friends...hey, do you enjoy when I go into a tirade on the course? Have one of them video tape you. You'll realize how much of an ass your making out of yourself.

I played Vellano Country Club in Chino Hills today for the first time. I shot an 82 that included two doubles and an Eagle-2. It was my second Eagle-2 in 4 days. Very unusual.

This is from about.com... "Offset is the distance that the forward side of the neck/hosel of the clubhead is set in front of the bottom of the face of the clubhead." I do believe some manufacturers may measure differently.

I used to love my 5 wood until I yanked it in 2006 during a 2-club trade. Outta the bag: 5 wood 3 iron Into the bag: 3 Hybrid (19°) Gap wedge I got a lower trajectory with the 3H, which was better on windy days. I also split the distance between the 3i and 5w with the 3H. I put the 5W (or 3i) in the bag when I pull the driver, which isn't very often.

I had an interesting 3-putt. On #14 Saturday, I was way over the green in two (a little too much club), I pitched to about 12 feet, missed the putt to about 1 foot left of the hole, walked up, lined up, stroked the putt straight towards the hole, and missed ! There was definetely some mystical voo-doo controlling that ball. It snapped left immediately. I thought about it after the round. The greens had a very light dusting of sand. I think there may have been a trail of sand around my ball and a little on the clubface. At impact, maybe a few grains got together and said, hey, let's deflect this ball left. This putt occurred during my lowest round ever (74). I guess it could have been a 73...oh well!

LOL! Thanks for clarifying it for me By 'handicap', I assume you all mean 'handicap index '? Assuming so... Joe Golfer carries a 20.0 Index. At his par 72 home course he likes to play from two sets of tees. The whites have a slope of 120, giving him a course handicap of 21. The blues have a slope of 130, giving him a course handicap of 23. He could shoot a 93 from the whites or a 95 from the blues for a net par. Would you still consider Joe a "mid-capper"?
-
What do you mean, unless...? If someone was a 11.0 last year, then worked their way to an 8.4 this year, you would still call them a mid-capper because they "were" a mid-capper before? I'm not sure I follow.
