  1. Have any of you SWM golfers played Indian Lake Hills? I'm thinking of trying it out next week. I've heard it's decent and the rates aren't outrageous. It has 3 9-hole courses and you can play them in any combinations for your 18.
  2. I started playing golf last year in august. At the beginning of this year I completely relearned my swing. I've dropped from shooting in the 120's to breaking 90. I play 2-4 times a week though and I'm constantly practicing my swing at home.
  3. You can shank shots in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 using the Tour Swing mode. Also, you can push or pull full swings and putts depending on your swing path. It's pretty damn fun. I'm going to get one of those Chicken Sticks to help hold me over through the long winter months here in Michigan.
  4. That sucks. I've had a similar thing happen to me on a similar par 3. 155 yd to the center, 165ish to the back of the green, back pin location. I hit an 8i and air mailed the green by a long shot. I hit it about 180 yd. I managed to get par though. :D Today I started my round with a 5 over on the first hole though. Rest of the round sucked pretty bad from there, too. First time I've shot over 50 on 9 holes in over 2 months. It's a short 310 yd slight dogleg left par 4. Skulled my tee shot with a 3 wood but ended up about 150 out in the center of the fairway. Pulled my 2nd shot about 30 yards left of the green. My 3rd shot flew right over the green by about 15 yards. 4th shot hit a tree and fell well short of the green. Chunked a chip with my 5th shot. 6th shot finally puts it on the green then I 3-putt. Felt like my first time playing again it was so horrible. I just tell myself I've only been playing a year, it's not so bad, heh. Yesterday I shot 41 on the same 9 holes though.
  5. Man, you're killing me. I live in St. Joseph just a couple miles from that course. I drive by it every weekend. I want to play it but I just can't afford it right now. I've heard it's $75 for 18 with a cart after 3pm. I'm going to have to scrounge up the cash to play before the season is up. There's a YouTube video of Nicklaus making that putt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5WcM4JyX40
  6. I joined up with a couple other singles once due to a group ahead of all of us playing extremely slow but they weren't letting anyone play through. One of the guys looked to be in his 40's but said he had just started golfing this year. We get to the par 3 8th and he hits his ball left of the green behind the greenside bunker. Of course he put his 2nd shot right into the bunker. Finally after about 5 swings and still being stuck in the bunker he asked me for a few tips. I'm a fairly new golfer myself but I told him what I knew. The next shot he hits it perfect and it bounces off the pin in mid air and drops in the hole. Never even touched the green. It was awesome. I've had great experiences so far joining up with random people on the course.
  7. I'd be honored. :)
  8. I used to have a bad problem with this. I'd get the chafing real bad and it would take up to a week to heal sometims. Hasn't happened to me at all this year thanks to one simple change...goin' "commando" or "free balling" it so to speak. Haven't chafed at all this year.
  9. The course I play at regularly has one bunker that bugs the hell out of me. The hole is a 520ish yard par 5 from the blue tees. There's a bunker about 50 yards from the green and to the left of the fairway. The bad thing about it is there's a huge pine tree directly between the bunker and the green. Why double penalize the player? You're already in the bunker. The lip is too high to hit it low out of the bunker and the limbs are too low to hit under the tree. The absolute only thing to do is pitch out sideways. I hate it. I've been in that bunker a couple times and that tree pisses me off every time.
  10. It's part of getting older and fatter it seems. I'm close to my mid-30's, too and I have the same problem. A lot of times I have to wipe beads of sweat off my glasses after a shot. Wearing a bucket hat helps a bit. I just make sure to bring a sweat towel and stay in the shade as much as I can. Grabbing a cup of ice water to head out on to the course with is part of my pre-round routine now, too.
  11. I don't know! But I'm scared! Hold me! Hehe, maybe I need to switch back to corded grips. I didn't have this problem with my old clubs with the thicker corded grips.
  12. Graphic Artist at a screen printing shop. Been doing it for 10 years now. Luckily the course I'm a member at is just a couple minutes from where I work. Sometimes I sneak down there on lunch break and play the par 3 course or hit the range.
  13. Mine was a bout a week ago on a 360 yd par 4 with a big dogleg left. My tee shot was right into the bend of the dogleg down the left center of the fairway. I had a few trees between me and the green blocking my view. I hit a 9i right over the trees and to about 2ft right of the hole. Had an easy putt for birdie.
  14. I've been having a similar problem in my left hand. No soreness, but sometimes the joint after the knuckle, 2nd in from the tip, gets stuck. I have to force it to unbend or use my other hand to pop it out. Doesn't hurt at all. I just think it's a bit funny. Never had a problem like that before I took up golfing last summer. I swing my clubs just about everyday. I have no suggestions on how to fix your problem. I just live with it, heh. Give yourself maybe a month or 2 and you should stop feeling sore the next day after a round. Your body needs time to get used to the motions again.
