  1. Low 30'sF and snowing. We used a phillips screwdriver to make a hole in the ground that we could stick the tee into.
  2. As in narrow sole? How narrow, what dimensions?
  3. Played the first round with my AMP driver today, and it's a freakin' awesome club! I got the 10.5 head. Spent some time on the range this morning before our round swinging it, trying it at both the open and closed settings and playing with tee heights and ball positions. Ended up keeping it at neutral, although I never bought the club because of the adjustable face angle. I can go after this one and still keep it in the fairway. My best two drives were on #7 and #9, both just over 250 and change. Drive on #7 had me right in the middle of the fairway, and #9 is a dogleg right that I was able to fade it around the corner and left me with a 9 iron into the green when in the past I would usually have around a 7 iron. It does hit the ball high, higher than my old Diablo Edge and Wishon 919 (both 11* advertised) but I am getting much better distance and tighter dispersion out of it, so I won't complain at all. Dave2512 - I agree with you on the sound, not tinny, but a solid click. I really like it.
  4. I'm just going by what I read, I'll let someone else go correct TaylorMade: http://taylormadegolf.com/TaylorMade/Torque-Wrench/DW-Y0445,en_US,pd.html?dwvar_DW-Y0445_color=N19538&start;=2&cgid;=taylormade-accessories-onCourseAccessories Quote: The FCT Wrench provides the necessary torque (40 ft lbs) to secure all Flight Control Technology and Moveable Weight Technology products. With an ergonomic design and easy turn-and-click tightening system, the FCT Wrench allows you to fully optimize your TaylorMade product. But yeah, after looking at a chart in my shop, even a 1/4"-20 would only be about 8 ft/lb.
  5. I really like my TaylorMade R11 hybrids. The 16 ° 2 hybrid has replaced my 4 wood, and I bag the 21 ° 4 hybrid too. They are adjustable +/-1 ° for both loft and face angle. The 3 hybrid is an 18 °, also adjustable +/-1 ° for both loft and face angle.
  6. Finally got the Razr X Black from Callaway (my Diablo Edge cracked, so Cally did a direct warranty swap for the Razr X Black). Can't say I really like it. Its a bad azz looking club for sure, but even at the stock D5 swing weight, I can't feel the head at all. That, coupled with the 46" length, I'm just not sure it's the one for me. I played with a friend last weekend, and on several holes after we both hit our drives, I hit his Cobra AMP. I fell in love with that club! Straight as an arrow, and waaay past my drives with the Callaway. So I ended up getting one for myself. Just got the PURE Grip P2 Wrap in the mail today, so I'll put that on sometime this weekend, then wait for the snow to melt. I'm really digging the feel of the Cobra though. It's 2 swing weight points lighter, and lighter overall by 8g club weight, but I can feel the head in every step of my swing with this club. Really looking forward to using this club. I agree! I replaced my 4 wood with a TM R11 2 hybrid. At this point, it's my best club.
  7. Wow, Taylormade replied to a guy who posted ^^^ that pic on their Facebook page. Kind of impressed that they took the time to reply: Quote: The Wilson Reflex iron was introduced more than 30 years ago. Iron design has progressed significantly from that time. The Reflex incorporates a slot that enhances face flexibility to increase COR (a term that wasn’t used back then). All i ron heads back then were rigid, with a COR measuring around .760. The Reflex measured around .800. RocketBladez COR is about 20 points higher. Also, the Reflex didn’t have enhancements like the RocketBladez’ complex face design, Inverted Cone, high MOI and low and centered CG location. The Reflex had a constant face thickness of about 3mm, while RocketBladez’ varying face thickness is 1.6 mm at its thinnest. The Reflex’s vertical CG was relatively high, about 20 mm above the ground, and the set didn’t employ progressive head design in terms of topline, sole width and MOI.
  8. Hahaha, I love one of the comments on that thread: "OlderBladez".
  9. Old thread, but FWIW, the Taylormade torque wrench is 40 ft/lb.
  10. I just picked up an AMP too, but not the offset model. Love this club, I can feel the clubhead sooooo much better then the Razr X Black.
  11. Well aren't those way ahead of their time!
  12. Close! I see that after the 6 iron, they are squeeking a little more length out of them too by going to 5/8" increments instead of 1/2" like 'normal'.
  13. Buster Grips, the original reverse taper grips. http://www.bustergrips.com/index.html $6.99 ea
  14. http://taylormadegolf.com/TaylorMade/RocketBladez-Irons/DW-JN933,en_US,pd.html http://thesandtrap.com/t/62844/taylormade-introduces-rocketbladez-and-rocketbladez-tour-irons
  15. Heat it, remove it, clean the shaft and head, and reglue it. It just looks like it didn't get fully seated when it was assembled. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, any pro shop should be able to. It's an easy 15-20 minute job plus curing time.
  16. I've been using the DT Solo, but recently picked up a sleeve of this year's NTX Tours. Played Sunday, and whether it was related to the ball or not, I shot my lowest round to date. I'm sure I can't pin it all on the ball, but I was sticking approach shots pretty close to the pin with a lot less roll out than the Solos. I have 2 sleeves of Solos left, and still have the three NXT Tours. I'll keep playing with these NXT Tours before I by a box of them, but so far, so good.
  17. PURE Grips.
  18. I see you have a Srixon driver in your sig now. Did you decide the Razr was not a good fit for you? My Diablo Edge developed a crack, and Callaway is replacing it with a new Razr X Black, so I'm curious as to what your thoughts are with this driver if you aren't playing it anymore.
  19. 2-1/2 sets: Maltby KE4 w/TT Lite XL shafts (in the bag) Maltby KE4 w/Apollo Phantom shafts (in the "guest" bag) Maltby Tricept TU (heads only )
  20. If you are hitting them fat, it could mean that you are flipping, your body stops rotating, standing too close, not getting your weight forward, yada yada yada. Those two clubs are the same length, and are 1/2" shorter than the 9 iron. Next time you are at the range, have someone randomly hand you the 9i, PW and GW without telling you what club you have and see if you still only hit those 2 clubs fat. I can tell you that when I hit one Oprah, 99% of the times it was because I did not get my weight forward.
  21. So better equipment and practice took you from a 98 to a 91. What do you think needs to improve to drop that 91 to say an 85, or 87, or 89? Where do you think you can best make up those strokes, or in other words, what part of your game is suffering and/or leaving you frustrated? Are you losing strokes by driving into the woods, blading chips, leaving putts short, etc?
  22. I replaced my 16.5° 4 Wood with a 16° 2 Hybrid. I just simply make better contact with the hybrid, and therefor I get better distance out of it.
  23. I think your stats on that are juuuuust a little old. It's more like 44.5" Except for Sergio. I go back and forth between the two. When one is misbehaving, it goes into time out and the other one comes out. The Wishon gets the most play, I'm just over of changing my sig every time.
  24. Pretty much have mine set. The only thing I would even consider swapping out for something else would be the irons, and those would be for either AP-1's or JPX-800's. But it would have to be almost at gunpoint! Everything else is staying, no matter what. Unless they break...... :)
  25. This was probably the biggest "ah-ha" moment for my game as well. After an absolutely horrid round, I swung by my instructors place to see why I was sucking so bad. He had me hit a few shots on video, then told me to hit a few with "about a 3/4 back swing". Did that, then he told me to hit some shots with a 1/2 back swing. After that, he showed me what the 3 different swings were like. My 'full swing' looked like I was trying to out-swing John Daly! My '3/4 swing' had the club about parallel at the top. My '1/2 swing' is about where he said my full swing SHOULD be! It's been a really weird process to shorten my swing. What fells like a 1/2 swing to me is what my full swing should be. At first I felt like I wasn't taking the club back far enough, so I found myself trying to power through the ball to make up for it, which only caused problems. As I keep working on shortening my back swing, things ARE getting better. And, oh yeah, Ai Miyazato is definitely cute!
