  1. Most manufacturers that give commissions or rebates to sales guys and stores do not make low lofts so he was just trying to sell you what he had. Go to at least a 9 and even lower to get lower, boring, shots with lots of roll. I say this assuming you are swinging well which sounds like you are. Get a 460cc. head with low loft and buy 4" tees and put 1" in the ground. When you swing, make sure you are hitting up and just let it fly. You will be liking it. If you want even more distance, go to a 48" shaft. Those extra 2-3 inches will get you 15 yards.
  2. I am not a big talker at best but at the range I will not speak more than hello. It gripes me to see folks come to the range and carry on conversations next to me or begin taking cell phone calls.
  3. The clubhead moves the fastest when the handle moves the slowest in the swing thus creating a whipping action. What is happening is the handle is slowing down prior to impact which allows the clubhead to speed up past center and into the ball. My longest drives have been when I was able to almost stop the handle prior to impact which creates immense speed. Try it, I thought it was my secret but willing to share.
  4. Thanks for closing the poll. That's the last poll I ever do on this site.
  5. Early release will produce both a slice and a snap hook depending on your clubface being closed or open at impact. Just loosen up those hands and arms, take a decent shoulder turn going back and try to retain the wrist angle into impact. That's all there is to it.
  6. I have been playing the 9016D 7 degree with 48" XXS shaft, nice.
  7. I am a low handicapper but a few times during a round I hit a big hook or a draw that goes from right side of intended target to left side. Usually when I go after a shot too hard. I found that I was taking the club too inside on backswing, so by taking the club straight back where the left forearm halfway back is parallel to the foot line, this gives me width and I drop inside to out on downswing. Anyone flipping may want to try this.
  8. Check that your shaft lean is not happening with the 4 but it with the 7. Can make a huge difference.
  9. What about not making a good shoulder turn?
  10. Periodically, I will hit a snap hook off the tee. Usually when I go after the long ball. I get so inside that I flip with my right hand for some reason. I am a low handicap player and have explored the usual suspects for this hooking but nothing I try so far has worked. Any ideas for a newbie on this site.
  11. I have played golf for 50 years and have traveled all over the world for my business interests, I have been a single digit player for 25 years-at least-and have competed in many US Opens and US Senior Opens. I am currently the club champion at my club. I take my clubs everywhere I travel and always find time at the end of the day for a round of golf.
  12. I played with Jack when we were both young men. I also followed his career for most of my life and attended many of his tournaments. I have also watched Tiger over the years. Jack is heads above Tiger for one reason: maturity. Tiger issues F bombs, throws clubs, ignores fans, walks past little kids who idolize him, acts like a brat to everyone, spits constantly in public and generally is rude, arrogant and conceited. Jack never did any of these things and his era was mostly full of very accomplished players who were also fine gentlemen who respected the game. There is no way Tiger will ever be the man Jack was and is.
  13. I am a physician who owns a health care company
  14. Why would someone begin hooking off the tee? I know I should know but I have ruled out alot of common faults that cause hooking. Just wanted opinion. Newbie here.
  15. I saw jack play one of his last tournaments and he was drawing the ball; long too.
  16. Actually except for driver and maybe 3 wood, most swings are 3/4. A full swing is where the club is parallel with the ground at the top and hopefully pointing at the target and not laid off. If you watch most pro's, they are not swinging full out.
  17. Actually I was just posting my swing tempo tips on another site earlier today. I like to address the ball with the feeling that there is NO feeling in my hands or arms but the sensation of the club only. I try to allow this nothingness permeate my body all the way into the ground. When swinging this way, I only sense the club. If you will do this especially when making the downswing transition, you will find your ball striking will improve greatly and after you get confidence, its unbelievable how accuracy and distance will improve.

  22. Taylor Made R7 quad TP model with Fujikura stiff shaft
  23. Returning after some time off from posting; I like what I see and look forward to being more active here.
  24. Rushing the downswing/trying to muscle the club down instead of just allowing the natural wrist hinge to occur and uncoiling from the backswing. Also, I like to take practice swings trying to allow the lower body to move toward the target before I complete the backswing; sort of blurring the back and down swing. Keep those hands and arms loose and whip that club through. Moving the lower body first will naturally drop the club down into the slot.
