funny thing happened today.  been struggling with simple shots lately with my TA5's, and i got fed up at the range today, spraying every other shot every which way.

came home and i was so flustered, i pulled out my old Hogan Directors and went back to the range and hit a small bucket. i'm not sure if it was to prove something to myself, or just getting back to basics, but...

i hit 80% of my shots dead straight.  a handful i came across and pulled, and a couple others i mishit (but most still went straight!!). only downside was that i'm losing about 5-10yds on comparably lofted TA5s, but i really don't care as long as i'm putting them straight.

most importantly -- i practiced my pitching (which has been disastrous lately) with my last dozen balls, and i was putting everything within 10yds of the flag i was aiming at.

i'm baffled.  i mean, i learned on the Hogans years ago, so maybe i subconsciously felt more comfortable/confident with these, or they're better suited to my swing/tempo, or...??

needless to say, they're going in the bag immediately for at least a couple rounds.  i know i'm a high capper at the moment and obviously some here like to raz people who "shouldn't be playing blades", but if i end up going back to these permanently, i'm gonna be a little pissed i lost two years playing CBs because i gave into the notion that that's what i had to do, when i could have been improving with the blades.  i understand this is completely against conventional wisdom, but... i honestly don't care.

anyone else have a revelation like this in the past??

I had a crappy old acoustic guitar that I thought sounded like junk.  Then one day a friend came by, picked it up, and made it sound like Hendrix was in the room, playing the blues.  After he left, I tried it again.  And lo and behold, it sounded terrible.  Must've been the humidity in the room was different while he was there.  Something was different.
