My experiences in the Vancouver area are limited.

I can recommend Chateau Whistler in Whistler. I hear the other courses in the area are very good as well.

A lot of folks will recommend Furry Creek, which is on the Sea to Sky Higheay leading to Whistler. I found it very frustrating. Lots of blind shots and lost balls.

Northlands in North Vancouver is very nice. Swan-E-Set Bay has two 18s.

The current US/CDN exchange rate doesn't make the golf as good a bargain as in the past, but it is still very fairly priced.

Can't wait to hear the recommendations of the locals!

Nicklaus North up in Whistler is a must, the course itself is straight forward but the surroundings and club house are awesome. It is Whistler though, so it's 2 hours min at the moment given the road works for the Olympics.

+1 for Northlands, great course, hilly though but the beer dolly and her cart usually hang around the turn which helps. 30-40 mins from downtown.

Fraserview is nice, worth playing. 30 mins from downtown.

I quite like Langara as well, short course but the greens are tricky. 20-30 mins from downtown.

The University Golf Course isn't bad but it can get boggy if it's wet. 20 mins from downtown.

Greenacres is a bit further out (past the airport), nice course. 40-60 mins from downtown dending on traffic.

I haven't played anywhere else so can't comment.

If you are willing to travel across the border Simiahmoo in Blaine, WA is a great track as well as Loomis Trails. They can be a bit pricey if you aren't a hotel guest.

There are some fantastic courses in Vancouver. I'm there for business every other week and will make Vancouver my home this summer.

Northview in Surrey, home of what used to be the Air Canada Open. They have 2 courses, the Canal and the Ridge. This is likely the nicest maintained course in Vancouver and is in an area that receives the least amount of rain in the lower mainland. Drainage is amazing and the greens are very well maintained.

You could also try Redwoods in Langley...very picturesque course also with well maintained greens.
