This year with Tiger's brilliant run so far and taking into account the performances of the Americans vs the Europeans, Europe will be routed.
.

Just cannot see people like Sergio or Casey stepping it up.
America by the length of the home stretch.

Of course, I value your thoughts on the subject.

Well, its about time the Americans stepped it up, because the Euros have beaten them convincingly in every event since Brookline in 1999. The Euros remember how they were treated at this event and every time the Ryder Cup comes round, they make a point of kickin' Uncle Sam's buttocks on the golf course.

Anyway, what makes you think the US will do well in this event?. Their top 2 players, TW and Phil, are frequently played together and don't like each other very much, and the tactics employed by the US captains have been flawed in terms of pairings in recent events. At least they have a captain this time in Paul Azinger who can play a bit and has interpersonal skills. Hal Sutton's appointment was the worst ever. Im not anti American but i have found the American teams in the past to be rather arrogant to be polite about the matter.

I think a lot has changed since the Presidents cup. Just you wait till the first time an American side with Tiger and Phil winning. You can kiss that cup goodbye for a long long time...again.

Aren't we jumping the gun? I mean, both teams have not been selected. The last Ryder Cup saw the Americans lose 9 out of 12 Single Matches, generally, a strength. As for Sergio and Casey not stepping up, c'mon, be serious. Casey won two events and halved two others. He did not lose. Sergio was 4 and 1. His overall record is 14-4-2. He thrives on Ryder Cup.

Until both teams are selected, I'm staying away from predictions. I do, though, wish to see Mickelson and Woods not paired, together. They just don't play well.

The way i see the Ryder cup is that the US have 2 or 3 amazing players (tiger, phil) while the Europeans have a team of good player without anyone standing out!
Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.

All i'm hoping for is a contest. A rout would make 2011 and so on very interesting, seeing as how the last few have been routs on the Euro side!

There should be some new team members - a bit of youth perhaps. Calling a rout that this stage is a little premature....As has been said, the teams have not been picked!

Europe recently has putt much better than USA.

I don't get it with very good putters like Tiger, Phil, and Cink. When we make putts, as did Couples, and Demarco in Past Presidents Cups, USA wins.

Still kinda early though . . .

Good point - because that's what it comes down to - putting! They're top class players and can all hit the ball. Over 3 days and 5 rounds, it's all about who holes the putt at the important times.

Ahhh the beauty of matchplay!

Apart from the chosen one theres not a lot to chose between the rest ability wise. The captains will be very important in chosing pairings that bounce off each other.A thing that has been very noticable in recent Ryder cups is that the Europeans seem to be more "up for it",there is a buzz around the team. The Americans appear as a group of individuals.
Having said that Azinger seems like the type to get a team spirit going,Faldo has to keep the spirit thats already there. Some interesting months ahead ,should be a classic ,I think this Ryder cup will go to the last match.

yeah... it's way too early to be getting cocky and saying the US will route them. I am just praying that they still have a chance come singles.

The way i see the Ryder cup is that the US have 2 or 3 amazing players (tiger, phil) while the Europeans have a team of good player without anyone standing out!

This is complete BS... the US has just as many "good players". Tiger, Phil, Steve, and Jim are ranked 1,2, 4, and 6 in the world respectively. Stewart Cink is ranked 14. Europe has less players in the top 15... and the US will likely get all of its players from the top 40. Europe will likely have to go all the way down to 50 or 60, to find the players. Your comment is based on NO facts and was way off base.

We say this every two years.

Actually last time the US was NOT the favorite on paper if my memory serves me correctly. I remember hearing how the Americans were finally the underdogs, and perhaps this would motivate them (of course it didn't seem to work).

I think this year they ARE the favorites again... at least as far as WGR go. We'll see what it's worth this fall. I do have a "feeling" this might be the year, but God only knows.

every two years its always said what a rout its going to be for the u.s.

They will beat their swords into golf clubs and their spears into putters. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Old Tom Morris 2:4

What do some of you outside the US know about how the european players feel about Nick Faldo?

I seem to hear an awful lot about how he is not well liked by many peers? I know the captain never hits a shot, but could it affect the Team concept if there are some players who have some reason to not like this guy?

Maybe all the current players are too young to remember the things that bothered the vets about him.

Can't really see a rout for either side this time.

The teams have not been selected yet but a rout? how can you suggest that? we have been magnificent in the last 3 tournaments and really whooped some american ass on the golf course.

For what we lack in Tiger's and Phil's we make up in team spirit. America in the last few cups look to have no team guile. We do and I expect us to be favourites going into this tournament.

Mon' the europeans!

unless the u.s. team is 4 to 1 favorites, i don't see how they can win and since the odds makers aren't giving them that, the euros will win
