made the moved and tryed a new coach today rather than my local coach who was district coach and all i can say is what a imrpovment

will list thing with old and new coachs and you can see the difference yourself

Old coach:

1) try keep left left more straighter on back swing
2) stronger left grip
3) closer stance
4)shoulder alignment

While i was doing these i was stuggling to even hit the ball well during the lesson and really struggled last few weeks trying to adapot the above. I was striking the ball well but was adapoting a push fade and i got to the stage i was playing for this off the tee and with my woods off tee and even my wedges were fading.

I was getting to the stage i didnt know what to do as seemed my local coach knew what he was doing tho but thought would try another opinion. He was even using video and showed me and looked like i was improving etc

New coach:

I only had a 30minute slot with him but was well worth it. Started off with a few shots to see where i could improve and the following was changed

1) grip was good as it was
2) widen stance
3) ball a wee bit back in stance
4) club more upright
5) hands forward at address a wee touch
6) transfer weight onto right foot on takeway / backswing
7) on follow through need to roll my hands over.

Oh my god what a difference it has made in such a short time. I was able to take proper divots which were straight at target. the ball flight was good and the shots were straight aswell. am well impressed and also it felt alot better aswell. gave me confidence to stand over the ball and able to attack the target.

Nice man. I'm going for my first lesson next week. I'm excited ... hopefully I can make an improvement like you did, and quickly...but I realize sometimes you get worse before you get better when working on new things.

exactly thats why i tryed my best with the other coach for a couple of weeks as alot of people say you get worse before you get better but i was shocked on the improvement i made today and fingers cross it can make a impact this weekend.

4) club more upright

Does this refer to the address? Meaning you were addressing the ball with the club on the heel?

Also - how much conscious effort do you use to transfer weight to your back foot on the takeaway?

Yes sorry alot of the fix's are at address and i also wasnt transfering my weight to my right foot which was causing a fault within my swing aswell which was causing another problem for the ball to turn into a push fade.

well guys i have been at the range this morning and within 24hours i was push fading the ball and didnt like the way the ball was shaping etc and now i am playing a nice wee draw which goes through the bag even the driver is alot better with a draw. I just need to get used to setting up with a wee dra due to am used to setting up left of the target for a long time. Havent played on course yet but will do 2mo with some friends and will report back

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
