Ok Well I just got my first Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 1.5 putter 2 days ago. And the first thing I did was take my UNC Winn grip off my old NIKE putter and put it on my Scotty(I have had this grip for almost 2 years now). Well after I did this my first thought was "Man, sure would be cool if I could get my Scotty in Tarheel colors!" So I got to sc.com and see you have to get "x" amount of work done to get free paintfill and they do not offer just paintfill. So after searching the web I found some threads about doing this yourself. Has anyone here had experience with this? I am looking for some kind of instructions on what I should do and most I have seen have been pretty vague on specifics. Here are the threads I referenced:

http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index....c=162383&st;=40

and here

http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index....owtopic=171563

Is there anyone out there with experience in this?! Any advice/help will be great!

Wes

I didn't read the links that were posted, but I've never had any problem restoring my paintfill when it gets worn off my irons. Very easy process.

  • Get Testors paint (acrylic) from the local hobby store in the color(s) you want.
  • Get the smallest paintbrush you can find.
  • Get some paint thinner.
  • Clean the old paintfill out with the paint thinner and let it dry completely.
  • Paint the recessed areas where the paintfill goes. Don't worry about getting paint on the non-recessed areas.
  • Once the paint is completely dry (even the paint that got "outside the lines"), fold a paper towel several times so that you have a flat, semi-thick, easy to hold surface. Douse a portion with paint thinner.
  • Gently rub the paper towel over the club (it's sort of like gentle sanding) until the paint that is "outside the lines" is gone. It only takes a few seconds of wiping.
  • Viola! Custom paintfill in the color(s) of your choice.

Personally, I don't do any crazy colors. I just spruce up the black number and the white groove on a club when they wear off. But, it's an easy way to customize your clubs if you want them to stand out from everyone elses.

Pretty much exactly what I did expect I used a toothpick instead of a paintbrush

Dude those are some sick colour choices! I love that colour, great selection and great job on the Paint, I don't see any smudges or paint running over the selected area. I'd rate that a 9/10

Agreed!!! 9/10. I got my Scotty Cameron used and the previous owner must not have liked paint because it has none on it. I think I may be adventurous and paint some groovy colors on it! Nice work on yours!

This thread inspired me to paint my irons. I think I'm going to do some paint on the letters and the iron numbers.

btw: thanks harry for the process on how to do it. I'll follow that.

Hey thanks for all the compliments...Just want to add for all those who wanna try it yourself is dont expect to get it your first try. It literally took my 5 times to get it right. And to add to Harrys instructions...Nail polish remover works just as well. I used nail polisher remover with acitone to take the original paint out and nail polish remover with out acetone to whipe away the smudges when I was all done. If anyone needs any help or guidance let me know

    • Most the stuff I found on Instagram and just copy and mix it up. a few of my favorites: Clean>Squat>Press> March Around the body >catch >Squat> press I also hold a the kettle bell upside down with both hands on the handle. Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
    • Not sure this is the best thread but, if the rain holds off, today is my 1st round of the year.  Getting ready I can not find my Shot Scope.  I guess I put it away too well for the winter and thus that is may "Winter Depression".  I'm sure I put it somewhere that made sense at the time.
