The Pro at my course let me try his irons on the range during a lesson, these irons look so sharp. They are by far the best looking irons ive seen, aside from maybe the MP67s. However, these irons are very difficult to hit for a forged cavity back. I usually strike my irons very well and i got the i10s instead of blades for the extra distance. But seriously, these MP57s hurt when you miss. I hit the sweet spot and the ball flies extremely low and it stings. This is my first experience with Mizuno irons, and based on my judgement, you shouldnt be playing these irons unless you are below a 5 handicap. On the website, it says a forgiving cavity back, but this irons only looks like its forgiving. Great looks though, a true players irons

This same day, i was caddying at the course and a man had just purchased the Bridgestone J33 blades. Honestly, i didnt think he could hit them anyway, he is about 60 years old and above a 20 handicap. He doesnt hit the ball far and he was really struggling with his new irons. So he asked me to hit a 6 iron out of the rough, to see if it was his swing and not that the irons were too hard to hit. So i took a swing in the rough and ouch, it stung so bad i let go of the club and it slammed into the ground. The ball flight was really great, but if you hit it on the sweet spot why should it sting? These irons are in the Bag of Charles Howell, except he only has them in a 6-PW, he has cavity backs in everything else and i no why. These irons, like the MP57s are beautiful to look at, but they both sting terribly. The MP57s are the better looking iron, but the bridgestone seems to be more forgiving.

What shaft was in the MP-57s? I'm using R300s in mine, and have since my handicap was 22-23 back in April. I hit my 6-9 pretty high when I want to, and I can get decent height on my 4 and 5. I can also keep my 4-7 low when I want to, also.

Funny you should mention the hurt when you miss. That was one of the selling points when I got 'em

He has the Precesions Rifle shafts, they had no label, i think they are the 6.0. I have hit those shafts on different irons and i havent had any problems with the ball flight before. And in case anyone was wondering, on the bridgestone there were True Temper Dynamic Gold S400.

You're crazy! These irons are among the easiest to hit players irons out there. They are very forgiving. In fact, I almost didn't get them as I felt that they were almost too forgiving. I was also considering the MP-67 irons. The MP-57 irons give wonderful feedback. I by no means am on the center of the face all the time, but my hands never sting with them. With these irons I can tell if I thin or toe it much more easily than my old irons. I have become a much better ball striker due to the feedback of these irons. The overwhelming majority of people who have tried these irons say that they have a buttery

soft feel to them, and here you stand saying that they hurt your hands as they are so hard to hit. If your hands stung, then you obviously didn't get it on the sweet spot. It's just my 2 cents, but I don't think that anyone who is considering buying these irons should listen to your review as it is just not true. Maybe these irons are not suited to your game, but it is not the fault of the iron. These are a great set!

I guess you could be right, the shaft was a little too stiff also. I think the precesion rifle 6.0 is like X Stiff, but im not sure.

First off, I know nothing about the J33 blades, will not comment on them...

So anyway, I couldn't disagree more about the mp57's. If you miss the sweet spot, yeah, they let you know about it...but when you hit them flush there is a buttery feel off the face, it's very smooth...I'm not sure what you are talking about. And btw my scores have dropped since getting these at least a few strokes...I was about a 14 before and now a 12.1

So, idk what you are talking about being a 5 handicap or below to play these..they really aren't hard to hit. maybe it's pschylogical for you.

I guess im wrong about these irons, but after 3 people telling me i have it wrong, i know the shaft is the wrong one for me. Finally, i think i need to point out that i am only 15, and that you are older guys who probably swing harder than me. These irons are playable for me, but i didnt like the feel, maybe i just though cause im a 12 and couldnt hit them and irons are the best part of my game.

lol, im 16 and im 5'7" 140 lbs... i do not swing harder than you...my swing speed is, at tops 90 mph with a driver, and that's swinging pretty hard for me...

it has nothing to do with size or strength...you just probably didn't have the right shaft...and you probably just weren't used to them...they did take me at least 25-50 shots to get used to.

WTF, they should never sting when you hit it well like you said you did with the J33 irons, no irons sting when hit perfect no matter what they are.

Well, us disagreeing with you don't mean you're wrong. It means we didn't experience the same thing with the clubs.

You've got a great set of clubs at the moment, so there's no need to switch. If you have the chance, go to a demo day for Mizuno and Bridgestone - they'll let you demo a club that is the right shaft for you, and you'll more likely feel what we feel.

I just got a set of MP-57s. They are sweet. When you hit a shot pure you know it before you even look up. You dont even feel the ball, it just launches. They wont let you get away with a bad swing though. I played my first round with them yesterday and I realized I was swinging way to armsy because of the feed back. Without that I would have just continued with my lazy armsy swing the rest of the round. Awesome.. just plain great.

The 6.0 is equavilent to "stiff+" in dynamic gold, so something like the S400 would match up to a 6.0 project x.

5.5 = S300 6.0 = S400 6.5 = X100

Yeah, my swing speed is 100 tops witht he driver, and i cant hit the rifle 5.5 or 6.0s worth anything. theyre just wayy too stiff. It feels like a treetrunk for a shaft.
