Looking for a good 3 wood that I can hit out of the farway. I have a titleist 904F I can hit it off the tee but I can not hit it out of the farway. I also had a ping g10 and I couldnt hit it either so any other ideas for a 3 wood?

try custom ordering your three wood with a 1 inch shorter shaft than std, trust it will help a ton when using it deck.

No I have not tried the Adans Insight XTD. How are they? Do you have one?

The club-head is little(very good for fairway hitting), the impact feeling is a solid contact and the design helps for the alignment.

I was having the same trouble. Have a TEE CB2 3-wood that is GREAT off the tee, but I can't hit it off the deck. I tried the new TM Tour Burner 3-wood and am hitting it just fine off the deck. If has a swallow face and with a nice smooth swing I am elevating it straight and high with ease. I would also concur with Obsessedgolfer in trying to get a shaft that is about an inch shorter.

The Tour Burner is great off the tee as long as you tee it up very low. I just use a very smooth, sweeping stroke and it works fine. Of course, off the tee it's not as long as my TEE CB2, but I will sacrifice the distance off the tee for an additional usable club off the fairway. I tested the Tour Burner against the G10 and the 906f4 (two other swallow-faced woods) and got the best length and accuracy with the Tour Burner.

Try the Bridgestone J33. I carry one, and off the tee I can hit it 200 yards comfortably (I don't hit the ball far) And off the deck I can hit it just as far. It has a shallow face, and the stock shaft is nice, Aldila VS Proto "By You."

Here's what I play:

I just got a Mizuno F-60 4 wood that I can hit just fine off the deck. I went with the 4 wood to fill the yardage gap better, but the F-60 3 wood is nearly identical. Very solid clubs. Off the tee it works very nice as well.

Dude...you are scaring me.......you low handicappers are supposed to be able to hit a gooseneck putter clean out of a fairway bunker with draw about 220 yards.

At least that's what the weekend hacks like me believe. We bow our heads slightly and speak in hushed tones whenever a low handicapper is in our midst on the tee-box. It makes us nervous that our bleeding slices or whipping hooks will betray us thus exposing us for neophytes even though our bags are filled with the big name clubs and gear.

Just kidding.....it is refreshing to see that even the really good players are searching for the same things. I've struggled the 3-wood struggle so dang long that I'm giving it up......going with a 4-wood next.

Keep us posted on what you decide to go with and how it works out.

Try the Ping G10 go either 3W (15.5*) or 4W(17*) they are very easy to hit off the deck for high handicappers like me so you should do better. Also try the Mizuno F60, haven't tried their 3W but from what I experienced from the 5W they are also great off the deck.

I tried going from a 3 wood to a G10 15 degree hybrid. I found I was able to hit it farther off the fairway since it was so much easier to get up in the air. So far, I am sticking with it. It is easy to hit off of the tee as well.

Instead of thinking you need a 3 wood try a 4 wood instead. The 4 wood is a lot easier to hit since the shaft is shorter and easier to elevate because of the 2 extra degrees. Also, go pick up a copy of Tom Wishon's book, "The Search for the Perfect Club". He breaks it all down.

BTW, I'm not sure what your swing speed is but most people dont have enough speed to hit a 15* 3 wood consistently from the deck. Like everything else in this world, it's all about the math my friend.

Good luck and have fun.

Give an 07 Big Bretha 3W a try. Good off tee and turf. It goes a real farway when you hit it too...
