When I was 20, I had a fairly serious accident that left my right knee with limited strength. If I had to do a comparison to my left, I would say it's about 60-70%.

I'm a 6 handicap that can play, but it's all dependent on setup. I have to force myself into the correct posture, but really need some advice. If I set up naturally, my right hip sways back (because of my knee) and my hips and shoulders open at address. The only way I can prevent this is to imagine i'm putting more weight to the outside of my left foot. This causes my left hip to be higher and my hips and shoulders to close.

While this seems correct, the feeling is that my lower body is tilting the opposite way from my upper body. My right knee looks very "kicked" in and my weight feels like it's 80% on my left side (keep in mind I said "feels")

As my knee get's weaker during a round it becomes even more complex. Does anyone have some insight into my setup so I can make it more "natural" or, at minimum, tell me what I'm doing to compensate is correct?

In college, I suffered a complete tear of my ACL and partial tears of my MCL and PCL in addition to severe damage to my meniscus in my right knee. It took two years to be able to walk 18 without needing painkillers afterwards, and it took about 4-5 years before it felt stable enough to get back to playing competitive hockey or running intensive sports.

That said, I think I know what you are talking about. After 3 surgeries, I don't have the same "control" over my right leg as my left-I really have to focus on my knee bend and pay attention to my weight distribution.

For me, I have to feel like I have more weight on my left side to be balanced-I can't really feel when my right knee is loaded so it feels off-balance, but it isn't. (If that makes sense). Luckily, unless its very damp and cool, I don't get worse as the round progresses, but its something I need to pay attention to or things can get out of control quickly.

So short answer-I do basically the same thing you do, for slightly different reasons. If I don't, I end up coming over the top or doing a reverse pivot move (usually both).

Thanks piper_clap. That is exactly the feeling I have. Limited feeling or control in the right knee. If I don't put my weight to the left side at address I will come over the top with a reverse pivot!

I appreciate it!

I may try the stack and tilt in the fall. For right now my game is pretty good. I almost fired a career the other day. One roll short of a 68. I shot a 74 the next day and was almost upset.
