Re: Lonnie poole golf course in raleigh
I played Lonnie Poole Tuesday morning with my brother in laws. It was my first time playing LP. I found the service to be great. The kids working there were really nice and helpful. The course is challenging, the greens are pretty fast and not flat and some of the views are amazing. As someone else mentioned, the course plays long and it requires some course management skills. If I could have hit a few putts, I would have had a decent score (for me). We really enjoyed ourselves (even if we didn't play very well) and hope to make it back to play again. Both of my playing partners wore khaki shorts and red shirts and looked like the staff. I found that humorous. Also, note that if you pull your approach shot left and hit the cart path on 18, your ball can bounce into the parking lot and go hundreds of yards away (don't ask how I know that).
I haven't played Duke's course or Finley since it's been renovated so I can't compare LP to those but I will say that when in doubt, you should avoid being around that nauseating light blue color
