Ive been playing for awhile and i was thinking about trading my 56 sand for a 58. that would leave me PW-46 (bent to 45), GW-50, S/LW- 58 where i would use the 50 110 and in. (Im thinking about the 58 because i rarely use the 56, and the 58 would cover all sand shots and higher lobs if necessary.)

MY question is, would a 45,50,58 be alright. It would still leave me with 13 clubs. OR would a 45,50,56,60 be more helpful and give me a full bag.

I would definitely go 45, 50, 56, 60. The more weapons you've got, the better.

If your 56.12 works OK, but you don't use it that much, consider keeping it. It's definitely designed as a bunker club. Then, add a LW which you can also use out of deep pot bunkers.

You have a 9.5 HDCP, so I think you're one of those guys skilled enough to use a true LW. At least give it a try. Don't know if you play courses without a lot of bunkers, or if you just stay out of them. If I knew what you faced, might have a better idea. BTW, my CG14 50.08 is my Christmas gift. I hit it super on the launch monitor, and my wife forced me to buy it.

My home course doesnt have a lot of bunkers but i think i will keep the 56. I like to get the ball in the air around the greens (as opposed to hitting a bump and run shot i like a higher pitch.) I have room for a club so i think a lob wedge would be a solid addition. thank you for the advice

True, but maybe not with wedges. Many people are very limited with the 60*'s capabilities. My set-up changed significantly when I joined my club. It is more of a technical track as opposed to my old bombers delight which is why I chose to go with a 4-wedge set-up. I tend to use my 60* from 75 yards and in and when I need to get the ball airborne and stop quickly. I face these situations more often at my club then in years past, thus the 4 wedges in my bag.

The USGA allows us to carry 14 clubs…whether you carry 3 or 4 wedges is up to you. My recommendation is to find the area of your game where you can benefit the most by adding a club. I use every club in my bag (obviously some more then others) and try to maximize their usages. It sounds like you may benefit most by adding a gap wedge (52*) and a lower lofted utility wedge (58*) that can be used for flop shots and from the bunker. Good luck.

You could also bend your 50 to a 52 and have 45, 52, 58

I appreciate the advice but i think the 50 is a weak one already and may be a 51. I think a 45,50*51, and a 58 would be pretty good. Anyone hit a 51 and 58 combo...if so, how is it?

Before making a decision, consider your game. Do you short side yourself somewhat regularly? If so, a 60* may be a good option to recover from those positions. It's certainly easier to recover from a short sided position with a 60* as compared with a 56*.

Serious questions here...

1) When you say "true lob wedge" do you mean a 60 degree wedge? 2) Is it a general consensus you need to be "skilled" to play a 60 degree wedge? I'm asking as I've seen this a whole bunch of times on numerous posts yet I don't believe it's any harder than hitting any other wedge (everyone owns a 56 or similar anyway!) and wouldn't consider myself any kind of a skilled player at all. I was just wondering if people who believe this have ever bought a 60 degree wedge and tried to play with one for a few months?

My decision was based on distance gap between PW and other wedges. 60* has been working great, and I will not leave it out, but it's all depends on your distance gap and preference.
I used to have 56* only, and current set up was based on not wanting various choking.
I think this link is very helpful..... http://www.titleist.com/vokey_wedge_guide/#

If you can hit a LW well, then go with it. It take extra work for most people to stay sharp on it. I had a wild ride with the LW in my previous iron set - either delivered a superb shot or a double bogey.

All of us have an area which better than the rest of our game. I'm an upper handicapper, but can hit a pretty good 3 iron off the tee. Sounds like we'd make a good scramble team. I put it in the fairway on the short par 4, and you lob it up to the cup for a tap-in birdie. Who should definitely avoid the lob wedge (and probably the GW also)? Beginning golfers. For the first year, learning to use the PW and the SW is enough work.

WUTiger, if you were in the UK (or if I wasn't) I'd take you up on that offer! My wedges are... 48 (pw) / 52 / 56 / 60.

Being quite new to golf, I wasn't too hot on "bounce", so opted for Clevelands 2 dot (standard), so they select the most common bounce for each club for you, and to be honest at my level it's more than adequate! Very glad I have a good wedge set indeed (now I am learning yardages etc)...
