A friend of mine is looking for new irons.
He's got POS ones at the moment and is being offered 350 euro for then (500 dollars)

He plays off 17.

Are they any good? what else would you recommend that wouldn't be too expensive?

I think they are outstanding, and most reviews you'll read about them will back that up--going back to the Di7s as well. For mid-high handicappers, this line is a great option. Not too big and shovely, look good at address, have a nice deep cavity for forgiveness, and hit the ball high with a smooth natural swing. Not sure if you mean your friend would pay $500 USD for them though. That seems kind of high (though a quick conversion check comes up closer to $400 USD). Anyway, I got mine lightly used on 3balls.com for under $200. At that price, they are a steal imho. At $400-$500, you could get some very nice sets of irons, and maybe the Di9s become less of a good option. I am not sure about pricing in Europe.

Equipment:
Ping K15 Driver (10.5º) - Diamana BB R flex; Ping G15 4 Wood (TFC R flex); Ping G15 20* Hybrid (TFC R flex); Ping G15 23* and 27* Hybrids (AWT R flex steel); Ping G15 Irons 6-GW (AWT R flex steel); Ping I-Wedge 54* Wedge; CG14 BP 58* Wedge; Odyssey Black Series Tour Designs #9 Putter

I play the DI9 irons with the uniflex graphite shafts and really like them. I think you may be able to find them for a lot less that $500.00.
