I am getting back into golf after laying off for about 5 yrs. I used to have about a 10 handicap and now it's about 20-24 and it is driving me crazy!! I am looking at taking some lesson is there any benefit to taking outdoor vs. indoor lessons or vise versa? I am hitting the ball about 30 yrds shorter than in the past and pushing the ball to the right, mainly with my irons. I use to play a nice lazy draw and this crap is driving me crazy!! Any forum help will be greatly appreciated.

Also is there any way to pick a good local pro other than by "hear say", is there an online database with reviews? Is there anything to asking about the pros when calling the couses to pick a pro?

Thanks Dustin

its all a comfort thing when it comes to what pro you go to. just gotta go with who you click with best.

and as for the pushing the ball and lack of distance, that would probably be a result of taking 5 years off...
pushing the ball is either not squaring the face up at impact or not clearing your hips. so concentrate on fully rotating your hips through each shot and really exaggerate rolling your top hand through impact. this added onto lack of consistency from not swinging in so long will take distance off drastically.

Well I took a lesson today, I just called a local course to get some prices and it was only $25 for 45min to a hour so I thought why not. Within half a bucket of balls I have my confidence back and I'm striking the ball good again. I need to practice and play to engrave these changes in my swing now, but I am pumped with the progress so far.
