We are headed to Myrtle Beach this summer and really wanted to play the 4 courses at Barefoot (Fazio, Love, Norman, Dye).  What did you think of it?  Also any other nice courses near Myrtle Beach?

I've played all four Barefoot courses, all of them more than once excep the Dye course which I just played this month for the first time. All four courses are worth playing. Norman is generally thought of as the fourth best there. You will get arguments from many people about which of the other three is the best. They each have their supporters. Dye is the toughest, but a lot of the difficulty is an illusion. There are lots of huge wste bunkers and some forced carries, but the fairways are wide and the carries aren't bad if you play the right tees. The course is gorgeous and makes you think. My entire group loved it.  Dye is a semi-private club that has its own club house. The service there is fantastic. The other three BF courses share a clubhouse about a mile away.

The Love course is a woodland course with greens influenced by Pinehurst #2, with some false fronts and sides. There are faux ruins that come into play on a few holes, which some people like and others don't. The Fazio course has lots of fairway bunkers but many of them are just eye candy and don't come into play. The par threes on Fazio are interesting and pretty.  I think you'll be happyb playing all or any of these three.

Here are links to my photos of the BF courses:

Other favorite courses in Myrtle Beach are:

The Dunes Golf & Beach Club - The back 9 is perhaps the best at the beach

True Blue - an amazing course

Caledonia

Grande Dunes

Heritage

Tigers Eye

The Moorland and Heathland Courses at Legends are great value, but are crowded with slow rounds unless you get out very early in the morning.

Thanks!  Those pictures are great.  They have so few on the website.  We are definately setting our tee times today.  I appreciate the help with the other courses.  We will have a few days to fill in and want to try a couple of others.  We had looked at the Heathland and Moorland courses but maybe we will try the dunes or True Blue.  We do play early though so we can spend time with the fam (It's me and my brother-in-law).  Thanks again for all your help!

    • I have a putting mat in my office. It's 9 feet long almost 4 feet wide. I've drawn a line down it in order to practice hitting my line and stuff. Works fine for what it is.  While I'm not a fan of lining up a line on my golfball for every putt. I think for practice sessions it can have a lot of value.  To me this product makes sense. This is the first time I've seen it. It showed up as an add on the right side of the TST webpage. What do you all think? PuttAIM Laser Training Aid Get ready to dominate the greens like never before. PuttAIM Golf is a golf putting aid that uses laser technology to help you improve your game. This device works to ensure your putts are aligned properly and on track...
    • Of course. I've used different words to start, but like 90-95% of the time it's been this one. And I'm unlikely to switch now.

    • Angle is not a factor. I hit the ball 100’ high. Par is net birdie. My CH is 16. The rough between the bunkers is like 10’ wide though. That’s not something you’re going to try to hit on purpose. Most of the area to the left of that is fescue/native vegetation and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a flat lie in any of it. It’s the second hole.
