I'm actually in the middle of my vacation to Maui, but thought I would share some pics from a few rounds of golf I got in this week.  So far I've played the Bay & Plantation course at Kapalua.  I shot 83 at the Bay and 89 at the Plantation from the tips.  The greens are incredibly fast and difficult to read.  They look the opposite of how they actually break!

I'm playing Makena Golf tomorrow and possibly Wailea Emerald on Monday before I leave.

My gf rode with at the Plantation course and took a ton of pictures.  There is literally not one hole on that course that doesn't have an amazing view.

Comments welcome!  I'll snap a few more pics at Makena tomorrow and get them up.  I think there are two holes that are right on the ocean.

Awesome photos! That one of you hitting a wedge or short iron is really great . The real question is did you go driver driver wedge on 18 at the plantation course like Bubba?

Actually I did hit 18 in two shots. It was driver and a 270 yard 3 wood, lol. Downwind! My ball feed into the same place his amazing banana fade driver shot did on day 1 of the Hyundai. However the pin was in the back of the green. I 3 putted for about the 15th time in the two rounds, lol. A fitting end!

Played Makena today. Really great course as well. Great views and the greens rolled better than Kapalua IMO. Where are you staying in Maui? I can give you a bunch of tips on where to go for other activities as well. My sister lives here and showed us all the good spots. I only have two days left here. I don't want to leave!

Good choice using the wedge shot as your avatar.  How difficult / easy was it adjusting your shots for the Hawaiian altitude / conditions?

Actually I think that shot was a 6 iron that came up just short.

I play at sea level in Chicago so I didn't have to adjust my distances much.  I was playing with a guy from Salt Lake City one day though that was completely lost when it came to choosing clubs.

PM me, I am def. interested in getting your 2-cents on things to do!!  We have over a week to do as much as we can - nothing in the 'plans book' besides golf, golf, and more golf..  (My GF will hate it).

I'm also in Chicago, so it's good to hear we don't have much of a learning curve on our distances...  fabulous!  We'll be staying at the Wailea Beach Marriott for 5 days and the Kea Lani for 5.  Looking at Googlemaps, it looks surrounded with courses...   I'm open to all suggestions.

Thanks!

I played the Links at Maui Lani (a public track) as part of a cruise package three years ago - the 11th tee box pretty much overlooks the city of Kahului which was cool, the rest of the course was decent.  If you really want to play a nice course, go to Puakea Golf Course in Lihue - that place was awesome.
