I am currently playing TM RAC LTs and have been for abotu 3 years.

One of the main reasons I went with the LTs in the first place was that they were forgiving, the head was smaller and the offset was less then the OSs.

The head size, the look, the forgiveness and even the workability are right where I want them to be but I feel as though I am fighting the offset on these clubs. I have a stronger then normal grip so the offset is even more visable at address.

If I overlook the fact that the clubface looks closed at address I can hit a pretty good ball and it naturally draws but if I really need to hit a straight or even a fade then this is where things really fall apart. I find it really hard to align the clubface properly with these clubs, leading to inconsistant shots and a general lack in the confidence that everything is lined up properly.

I had this problem with my driver and specially with my 3 wood which I recently replaces both with TM TP versions of them because of the more open face angle and this has straightened me right out and I can work the ball with more consitancy with them in either direction.

I have hit many irons with these criteria...they had to have minimal offset, had to be forged, they had to look good, forgiving to a point. I narrowed it down to 3 iron sets....kind of in this order.

1) Mizuno MP-67: Man I can really hit these well and feel really good, but that's indoors on the screen. Will probably go with the ProjectX shaft upgrade. They have a demo day coming next month and so I will go hit them then.

2) Nike Pro Combo Tour: They don't fell as good as the MP-67 and don't go quite as well either.

3) Callaway x-forged: These look a bit boxie but they hit a feel really well probably a bit better then the Nikes. They come with great shaft options. I just have never been a fan of Callaway clubs, not really sure why.

Take a look at the Taylor Made R7TP's and the Cally X-20 Tours. They're both great clubs and once you've hit the X-20 Tours you'll get over the thicker top line in no time.

I never imagined I would b interested in the X-20 Tours until a 5-capper buddy of mine, that swears by them, let me hit his. Now I own a set.

I went from a 10 handicap to a 7 in a matter of months because of my Titleist 735.cms that I bought. Give em' a try if you wish. I plan to get down to a 3 this summer... hopefully fingers crossed if I don't have any problems with my knees.

the MP60s are pretty forgiving and have minimal offset. I haven't tried the 67s so I can't give any thoughts on how the 60s feel vs. the 67s.

I have the same issue as you, finding irons that set up well for me is hard (I still havent found a set yet). Im even finding my 690's have too much offset. The only irons i never had that problem with were my Mizuno Mx-23's which had very little offset, and were extremely easy to hit straight or fade. Also a club and half longer than all the other irons i've played. Find them used, you can get them for under $400.

Probably the best kept secret iron right now is the new Cobra Carbon CB's. If you can get past the brand they have minimal offset and strong loft's so they're Long, long, long and designed for better players but are also incredibly easy to hit. They won the tester's choice and value awards in this month's club test (golf mag) and they wont burn a hole in your pocket either, i believe they're listed at $699.00 in the US. I will be buying a set for myself when I get $699.00 US dollars =). Find them on ebay for around $600 Canadian.
