Hello,

how do you feel about them? Pros and cons? Are they worth $300? Are they better than Taylormade Burner plus irons?

Kevin - I've never played the Slingshots, but I do have a coworker who does and he is happy with them.  I don't know how much difference you'd really notice between the max game improvement sets, other than how they look to you and if you feel comfortable standing over them and making a swing.  I would ultimately suggest getting out to a pro shop (with an outdoor range if possible) and hitting a dozen shots with each of your club options in your price range.  Narrow it down and whichever you feel best with and hit better shots with, go with those.

I big fan of the Adams line of game improvement clubs.  The Adams A7 are going for just under $300 (steel shaft) right now, if you can still find them around (I've seen them at my local Dicks store within the past month).  Both of my brothers are beginner golfers and I coached them into picking them up.  They're both very happy with them compared to their prior sets.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Nike Slingshots are an excellent choice for anyone with double digit handicap (10+) if you are satisfied with only straight shots with not much workability. I am a 12-14 handicap and I play Ping G15's and very satisfied with them. Slingshot HL can be bought for half price of Ping's. And there is not much difference between the two. Search eBay first for a good used set and then one of the large retailers on-line such as TGW, Dallas Golf etc.

I had a set of Slingshots earlier this year and honestly, theyre one of my fav sets Ive irons that Ive ever owned (Ive owned just about every set Mizuno has made since the MX-15, Bstone J36, Titleist DCI 981 and Wilson Di7s).  They such a forgiving, easy to hit iron and they do a great job of helping you to get the ball up in the air.

Im not at all a Nike fan but if I had it to do again, I would have kept my Slingshots.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
