So, I've been playing extremely well lately and have been hitting my driver straight for the longest time. Out of absolutely no where, a very odd slice crept up and it's killing me. My ball flight is dead center target or slightly left of target which is great. However, at around 150-180 out, the ball starts taking a 90* turn to the right. As far as I know, I have not changes anything. Though I know I obviously have without knowing. The ball is also ballooning before the slice turn OB. Does anyone have any ideas, examples, diagrams of what I am most likely doing now? My instructor that I see is out of town for 2 weeks and I have 3 tourneys coming up and I am utterly screwed here. My last round was so bad I turned an Arnold Palmer ice tea into a John Daly at the 19th to calm down lol.

When I'm doing that, and this actually happens more when I'm playing good also, it's because with the added confidence I start trying to steer the ball where I want it (especially with my driver).  In an effort to steer it I'm actually holding the club face open a fraction longer which causes it to start out straight, then balloon up and start heading right just like you're saying. I think if you slow it down a hair and start letting the club turn over naturally after your lower body gets through like you probably were before, you'll see an improvement.

I know exactly how frustrating that flight pattern is hah

Haha. Thanks for the advice man. It's frustrating as hell when you have this crap happen out of no where.

I find that as I progressively get more physically weary throughout a round or at the range, my drive starts moving the same way.

Does this slice exist from the get go?

Ballooning would be caused by an extreme steep angle of attack with the driver, you are hitting down on it to much, i had this problem and lost tons of yards. when you start shallowing that angle out and getting more of a positive angle of attack, then you will loose that ballooning.

If it starts of straight and then curves right, your face is square to your target, but your swing path is very much negative (meaning outside in, over the top move).

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
