Hey guys, I could use some help here:

Today, I went and picked up 15 or so Golf Pride DD2 standard grips. So far, we have gripped 4 clubs, but it's been a bitch. It's been terrible. I have Cleveland Launcher LP with Reg. True Temper shafts, and it seems like the grips aren't big enough for them. The guy at golf smith said they were fine for anything. My dad has blisters all over his hands from trying to force them on. We've done grips before and it hasn't been liked this at all? It shouldnt be this hard to regrip clubs to the point where we are completely sweating and are hands are all cut up? Please help!

the best way to help with tough grips is to put you solvent (i use mineral spirits)
in the grip wile holding the hole on the top and bottom plugged with your thumbs, shake it around so that the whole inside of the grip is covered in solvent. then through the top hole use that solvent to wet the two-sided tape(you can reuse the solvent by using a disposable roasting pan)then slide the grip on and use a straight edge to make sure it's on rite

Hey guys, I could use some help here:

Well I'm not sure how you "did it before" but for the life of me I can't figure out how you would have blisters and cut up hands unless you were doing something terribly wrong.

In the past few months I've installed about 30 DD2 grips on 3 or 4 different kinds of shafts and had zero problems with them. In fact, of the 120 or so grips I've done in the past several months I'd say they were some of the easiest to install. Winn grips, on the other hand, can be a little stubborn since they don't stretch as much. I'm not sure what kind of solvent or tape you are using but that might be the cause of your trouble. I also hope you have a shaft vise you are using in a benchtop vise too -- without it it's almost impossible to put the continuous in-line motion you need to quickly slide the grip on and keep it straight. You might want to go watch the re-gripping video on this page and see how it compares with how you're doing it. It's the method I use and I've never had any trouble with any brand grips. If you have any questions then let me know. Gripping is really pretty simple but can be tricky with a few wrong steps.

As mentioned above, you're doing something terribly wrong....we do dozens of the same grips a week without incident...

We've confirmed you're using tape and solvent, right? Did you seal the but section of the shaft to prevent air and solvent from entering when you apply the grips? And you ARE sealing the grip whole while installing?

The only other thing I can think of is use a heat gun or blow dryer to heat the grips up and make them more pliable.

Or if you have an air compressor, do it the clean, fast, no mess way and blow them on.

i had my pro do them tonight real quick. he did the rest of them in 10 minutes. he said that the tape we were using sucked, and that was causing the problem, not the way we were doing it.

thanks for all the help though guys. I def. appreciate a place like this where I can come and get some quality comments and responses.
