The man of a 1000 golf swings !!

Hello everyone, I am the man with a 1000 swings.Well actually its more of a 1000 different ways my swing can feel through the course of a season.I cannot "Hold On" to the way my swing feels for anymore than a couple of days to 3 weeks at most.I start out swinging the club and say I am really feeling the clubhead rotation on the way back and how the club is coming into the slot at the top of my back swing.

It feels good and I am able to repeat it and feel it happening.I then head to the driving range and if the feel is still there(sometimes it never makes it to the range before I lose it) I begin hitting balls.This pretty much always goes the same way.After making a few "Tweaks" I hit the ball with good accuracy and consistency.The next day I start swinging again and as always "Something Feels a little different" The club head rotation is not happening the way it was or something else feels "Off" and I'm not hitting the ball as well.So yet again things change and I have to readjust

things again.Repeat this over and over a thousand times!! This is a little exaggerated as I do hang on to the same way a swing feels for sometimes up to 3 weeks or so before I lose it.However it can happen as fast as in my example above.

I have worked really hard for a long time on setting up to the ball the same way every time  as much as possible.This should give me some consistency with how my swing feels but it dose not seem to work that way.I would love to be able to "Lock In" a swing feeling with my setup position but this is not the case.

I feel that this holds me back from my potential as a golfer as I am always having to readjust and change things.It is very frustrating to feel a great swing that produces power,accuracy and consistency and shoot in the low 80's only to lose it time and time again.

Is this normal for the game of golf? or am I the only "Man with a thousand golf swings"

It might not be your swing as such it could be your practice regime. I'm a crap practicer. I get faster, try to hit it further etc etc. I don't know what driving range facilities you have but I reckon the 100 bucket style ranges can be a real trap. My course has a small open field next to one of the holes. Ill practice with 5 balls. It's weird that break in hitting makes before you have to walk up the fairway to get them back. It also stops the dumb "accelerating "swing that I do a the Big range. The enforced break gives you a chance to re-evaluate your previous set of 5. Plus, you don't get a tired swing....it's hard to start "machine gunning " like at the range.

Taking the above advice may lead to destruction of your golf game. Laughing at it may reduce stress.

There are many like you.  Here is a possibility:

When you are swinging well, you are swinging with your body.

When you are not swinging well, you are swinging with your arms.

I just watched a video by Paul Wilson on this, but I did not like his lower body keys.  The lower body movements should be subconscious.

And yet for many people they aren't, so they have to make them a conscious thing.

Thank you for the reply.Its more about how my swing feels though.When I lose the feeling its not like my swing totally goes into the toilet and Im not doing things a whole lot differently.Its just that when I key in on a certain feeling it will trigger my swing and everything else happens very easily and subconsciously.When I lose it I must then consciously

make things happen and I hit an "odd" assortment of very well hit shots to complete "Bloopers"This is when I have to make adjustments to get a new swing feeling to make things happen subconsciously again.Thats the best way I can explain it.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though. 
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
