Trouble hitting full wedge shots

The title explains it all.

I'll be sitting in the fairway (who am I kidding, the rough) from about 50-80 yards out, and I reach for one of my Maxfli Revolution wedges (52, 56, 60*). The problem is, I primarily use them for touchy pitches, and I don't have much practice hitting them full, like a short iron. It also seems like those times when I do try to hit them full, they aren't (read: I'm not) very accurate, nor does the ball fly a predictable distance.

Does anyone else have trouble with full wedge shots? Why is it that I can hit my 3 iron better than my gap wedge? Is it wrong to think a wedge upgrade might help the situation?

I sounds to me like you have a balance problem in the bent over position. Quite possibly to be specific a lack of weight shift. Rock solid stance.

Wedge upgrade will do nothing. Put both feet together (like a lady wearing a skirt) out in your yard and swing your wedges. Repeat with a normal stance and compare notes.

Furthermore I think when bent over on wedges the grip is more important than longer clubs.  Deliberately place each and every finger on the grip noting where they end up. Do this for both hands.Especially short mid long thumb awareness. I key off my pointer fingers mid knuckles being 3 and 8 o'clock positions and both thumb pads snugly resting on top in a mid to long thumb orientation. What you do may yield a bad result but that you can control by changing. A loose imprecise grip that is unnoticed is uncontrollable uncorrectable
