While playing golf today with a good buddy I was able to scratch off two more of my big golf goals for this year.

The first was I walked a full 18 for the 1st time.  I had built myself up by walking 9 for the last two weeks.  Yesterday I purchased a new Clicgear pushcart to force myself to walk more.  I love it and I felt more in tune with my game when I walked instead of riding.  All day I never felt rushed and I was able to play very relaxed.

The second, which was huge, was I finally broke 100 for the 1st time ( 52 out, 45 in) with the back nine being my best 9 holes ever.  All day I was making great shots, my short game was awesome, and my putting was on the money all day.  On the back nine I did not have a single 3 putt hole and par'd 3 holes in a row (I missed two birdie putts by a combined 1 - 1/2").  I have worked hard this year on really improving my game and it was nice to finally reach this goal.

I only have one more major goal this year and that is to break 110 on a course which for the last three years has beaten me up.  My best score there was 118 but on average it is 125.  I will get to play it at least twice before the end of the season.  With the confidence I played today I know I can achieve that goal too.

Congrats! I love to walk. I tried carrying my bag a few times and it wore me out. I got an old pull cart from my mom which I had to build a frame for because my bag wouldn't stay on it. I'm looking at a few different push carts myself. Now that our weather is starting to cool off I'll start walking again. I just can't bring myself to walk when the temp is over 95* .

Good job with your accomplishments.  Walking has so many benefits for golf.  You play slower, more relaxed, and probably the most importat reason...it's more healthy!

As for your score, good job breaking 100.  Keep working hard this season and set a goal for next year to break 90!

Congratulations... I also walk using a ClicGear because my doctor said I needed exercise due to high cholesterol. Weather permitting I walk 18 everyday. I've knocked about 165 points off my cholesterol level. (also take meds for it). I like walking because I find myself deciding what club I'm going to use and my "line" as I approach the ball.

One thing I've found with all the walking is the need for frequent hydration. I usually bring at least 2 bottles of water with me, one cold and the other one frozen so it thaws out /stays cold while I'm playing. At the turn and at the end of the round I'll buy a Gatorade from the clubhouse.
