Hey everyone. I'm completely new to the forum and am a casual golfer. I'm 29 years old and have been playing golf since I was 10 or 11 years old. I played in a "league" for a few years early on (11-13 or so) then maybe once or twice until I was 18. I started back up playing a few years ago and have been going about 6-8 times a year. I an getting better and figuring out more and more as I go. This year I decided to turn in my old hand me down 15 year old random clubs for a set of solid beginners.

So far I have picked up a Ping G5 driver, a set (5-GW) of Wilson Staff Di9's, and a Taylormade CGB max SW.

Lofts:

G5 - 10.5

Di9's - 25 - 49.5

Taylormade SW - 54

Right now its obvious I need to fill in between my driver and my 5 iron. I think what I am looking for is a good hybrid, possibly two. Does anyone have suggestions on what to fill in with here? I'm definitely on a budget, and have no problem with used clubs. Maybe around the $50 mark.

Thanks!

Something along the lines of a 4 wood and a 3 or 4 hybrid would fill the gaps pretty well. Check out RockBottomGolf, Global Golf, 3BallsGolf, and Second Swing for some good deals.

Yep, probably a couple of hybrids would bridge the gap nicely between driver and 5-iron.  Tristan shared good websites to shop.  As far as brand, look for just about any name brand like Adams, Callaway, Cobra, TM, etc.  They should have new clubs in prior year(s) models at pretty good prices right now.

One thing to keep in mind is that a #3 hybrid is around the same loft degree as a 5-wood. And hybrids (for me, at least) are easier to hit off the fairway, from the rough and off a tee than a 5-wood.

As your game and confidence progresses, you might want to add a 3-wood to close the long-club gap..
