Club Choice for a Female Beginner

Hey guys,

I'm just starting to play golf and am deciding which clubs to get. I'm a 5'9" 160 lb girl with a softball background and a good bit of strength. I have only been to a range once but I was hitting a men's regular 9 iron 135 yards with a high right to left ball flight. I'm wondering two things: (1) What flex should I get? The men's flex seemed pretty good for me and I can swing it pretty hard. (2) While trying to save money and still gauge my interest in the game, what club purchase do you think would be best? I saw a full set of clubs (regular, men's graphite shafts) at a local used sports store for $70, and I also know that there are full sets at Dick's and Wal-Mart for about $100. As these will be my first set of clubs, I am unsure of how much I should spend. I would like to learn on decent clubs that will last me a while until I need to upgrade to play well, but I would like them to be cheap enough that I wont go broke.  Thoughts? Opinions?

By the sound of it you could handle a set of men's regular shafted clubs. I would start out with something used maybe or borrow a set. Generally on here we recommend going to a golf store and get fitted for free and then you can buy the right clubs. So I would start there.

Probably a mens light flex (senior) is what you want to look for I would recomend go get a club fitting. Get a full set for $250-$400
