Putting practice woes

Thread Starter
Lately it seems that my putting is holding me back from better scores. I am not sure how to practice though. I can putt for an hour on a practice green but then the greens on the course play different. Especially the Bermuda greens here. They get coarse late in the afternoon. So the main issue is distance control on lag putts. Reading the speed of a green is more difficult than reading the slope. Especially on courses where greens are not in pristine condition.
Any suggestions?

I'd suggest taking a look at this thread and AimPoint green reading

A drill for distance control is to take an alignment stick/driveway marker and lay on the green at certain distances, 5ft, 10ft etc.  Then roll putts to where the ball just barely makes it over the stick.  Also make sure to control the distance by the length of the swing and not just "hitting the putt harder".
