Being my first summer working at a private club as a bag boy, and browsing these threads before looking for information and not being able to find what I am looking for, I am creating this thread with a questionnaire for you guys since I am thinking about bouncing around clubs in my college summer days. Please add on the price of the round and the state it was in unless you are comfortable name dropping! Also feel free to expound on answers with reasons as to why you tipped that much or left no tip. I will leave replies to everyone so thanks for your time.

1. At a public course, do you tip anyone? How much?

2. Golf resort, tips? How much?

3. Private club. Tips? For what, how much? Initiation fee?
4. Caddying. Tips? How much

5. If you were a bag boy how was your experience?

6. If you are a guest of a private club do you tip?

In my bag:

Taylormade R11S Driver
Taylormade RBZ 3-wood
Nike VRS Irons 4-9
SM4 Titleist Vokey Wedges 47, 54, 58
College freshman playing golf at Wabash College in Indiana!

Unless it's a very high end private club, I doubt you will see much tip income.

1. Public courses: I tip the cart girl and restaurant staff only.

2. Private courses:  I've had 2 private memberships and these weren't high end clubs......my tipping was the same. (restaurant & cartgirl)

3. Golf resort:  SAME!

4.  We were required to hire a caddy at a course in Malaysia. It was a complete joke because we rode in carts!!!  WTF??  1 caddy for our threesome riding in 2 carts so he could only assist one cart at a time.  LOL.....at least he raked the bunkers if he happened to be standing on the back of your cart at the time...LOL.   he'd stand on the back of one of our carts to get around the course.   We did tip, but I don't remember how much.

If you're looking for tip income, you might want to work in the restaurant.
