Golfers are More Confused than Ever

Golfers are more confused than ever for two reasons.

  1. Never before has there been so much information available to the average golfer.
  2. The "bad instructors" have as much of a platform as the "good instructors."

The two kind of go hand in hand. A golfer will hear "stay behind the ball and roll your hands over to hit a draw" from one guy while he hears about how he's got to get his weight forward and follow through more like Zach Johnson from some other guy.

Every year, in the spring, I re-read my old George Knudsen Natural Swing book co-written by Lorne Rubenstein and flip the corner drawings which show his swing .  I can now also stare at George's swing on "youtube" and sort of mesmerize myself. lol.  That gets me to the golf course and from there just a wee bit of range action.  Not too much though, I am of the school that I have only so many good shots in my bag and hate wasting them on the range. Being retired and able to play daily, gives one a chance to make it day to day with a repeatable swing. I have had lessons and I have read mags.  I am content that I have a good set of clubs and I play better now than when I was young 43 years ago. lol. I use the same method for putting with Dave Stockton. BUT once on the course, I don't think of anything other than having a good time.  Much easier to play better.  Works for me

Mirror ordered. Should be here Sunday.

I just got my mirror yesterday (same one). Planning to take it out to the range this evening..

@CarlSpackler have you had a chance to use yours?

My golf swing has 2 critical flaws 1. swing path and 2. swaying. I have a drill to work on the first; the mirror is to help me with the latter.

I went to the range last weekend and forgot to grab it.  :pound:

I tried it out last night under the lights and it is very helpful as a visual aid, especially for short irons. I especially like that you can see what your lower body is doing.

I should probably use it when making slow mo practice swings as a check. I guess it hasn't set in to my brain that I own the thing yet. :8)
