Which one do you prefer? I'm trying to decide. Please explain why you like one over the other

My borther has the Futura. I hate it.

I would personally learn towards the more classic Red x >

I would lean towards the red x because it doesn't look like a total space station. I prefer blades for the most part, but I enjoy the feel of this mallet. Good clean lines and a classic Cameron feel.

Anyone have the Circa 62' putters, dont mean to hijack but I was honestly going to start a thread asking about Scotty Cameron putters but you beat me to the punch. I am going to be purchasing one on Friday, whether it be on-line or in the store pending if they have the one I want in stock.

Its between Circa 62' Model 3, or Studio styles 1.5 or Mid

But if all are the same I would go for the 62' style, personally just like it. But performance matters as well. Any Help on my subject appr.

Again sry if I hijacked your thread. Didnt want to start one with the same topic.

I like the one in my bag - the Red X3. It replaced the Red X, which barely edges out the Detour. Actually, that's badly termed - I interchange the Red X and the Detour when I want to work on things (the Detour in particular).

I've never spent much time with a Futura.

I have tried all three and the Futura Phantom set-up the best for me. I would encourage you to see what fits you the best. We can all tell you what works for us, but it may not work for you.

I have the Red-X 2 (Center Shaft). Best putter around! The new Red-X's are a milled face w/o the insert. You may want to try both to see what you like best. I love the feel of mine. Much more consistent than my old Ping Zing.

I think I have decided on the Detour, thanks for all the help. One Question though: I want to cut it down from 35" to 33". I know how that throws off the weighting, but If I send it to the custom shop can they put on 20g extra?(330g+20g= 350g)

EDIT: one last question: has anyone gotten their initials stamped on an original detour? Where do they put it?

why did you switch from the red x to the x3?

Cuz it's basically the same putter, but I like some of the subtle tweaks made to the recent revision.

I disagree. I have used the 2 Ball, and I find the mushy insert makes it very hard to control distance. I like The feel of steel, to me it provides much more feedback. Even when they came out with the steel on polymer on steel thing, it wasn't quite right, and top of that it seemed over-designed and impractical. To the poor putter, It may help in terms of MOI, but i've never had much of a problem finding the center of the putter. (Oh, and by the way, I found the putter I was looking for: Studio Style Newport.)

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
