I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years
My current handicap index or average score is: 7
My typical ball flight is: draw, sometimes hook
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: hook and recently developed a heel shot with every club that I just cannot fix, causes shanks at times, tried: moving away and closer to ball, posture, weight on heels and balls of feet nothing seems to eliminate it

The back ball position gives a bunch away.

In a quick look, you should:

  • get your weight off your heels
  • Get the hands to ascend more and sooner
  • Get your weight forward (so the ball doesn't have to be so far back)

Thanks iacas, so in a sense steepen my swing some?? I’ll get my weight more towards my balls of my feet and see if that helps the heel strike, I’ve read and been told so many things to fix a heel strike I’m pretty confused at this point, I’ve never had this problem but I’ll gladly take your advice thanks!

I’m thinking some of the heel shot is coming from early extension to combat this I’ve been trying to keep my chest and back angle( not standing up) as long as I can while the ball is being struck, anyone got any other swing thoughts or moves to help early extension?

Go to this thread and look at/do the first 5 drills. Read each post and you will have a better understanding of what you need to correct. Lastly, try putting the ball so the back of the ball is at least forward of the center of your stance. I think you will find you can hit it there and even closer to your front heel if you practice that way.
