Well the practice mat and net have finally arrived to help ease the lockdown.
I learned as a junior but with few lessons and was a solid 2-3 HCI. After 15 +years of not playing I am about to start my 4th year back. Handicap was 10 for the first season, reduced to 7 and then 5. My short game is a bit stronger than my long game.

I play probably 30 x a year but have more opportunities to practice and working through the Covid practice plan.

I've been Playing Golf for: 32 years
My current handicap index or average score is: 5
My typical ball flight is: Pull fade
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: pull draw

Well, you swing across it a bunch and the face rolls through really fast.

I've had a guy who was larger who could still swing out. It's not that you can't, so I'd really, really spend a lot of time looking at how and where the club tips out so much. The first things I see:

  • Your hands go out and up, which lays the shaft down during the backswing.
  • You pitch it over the top in part because the arms go out and then have to start swinging left so early and because the shaft is so laid off.

If I were you I'd hit some small swings, chip shots really for now, where you:

  • Turn to let the hands go in.
  • Feel the shaft across the line at the top (for now, actually go across the line)
  • Try to "push" the ball with the path (the face is responsible for start line, but swing "out" from the across position)
  • Thumbs Up 1

Thanks for taking the time to look at my swing Erik, I will work on this and post again.
