For those interested in tinkering you might check out the article on lead tape . I might do a little experimenting with my driver while avoiding shelling out the cash for the R7 Quad (OK, it's not the same thing).

Anyone here used it to help your accuracy?

Never. If my accuracy is off, it's probably something in my swing.

Seems to me lead tape (not that I have a lead tape fetish or anything) could be used for the same purpose the weights in Taylor Made's new driver are for. To encourage a draw or a fade. Obviously you want a sound swing to start with. I guess I'm one of those tweak guys.

Maybe my swing isn't ready for tweaking yet... it's certainly ready to make me furious at times.

The thing is, one inch of 1/4" lead tape weighs a whopping (hold your hats now...) .25 grams.

Do you really want to slap on 40 inches of lead tape to put 10g on your driver? Lead tape - enough to make a difference - toys with the swingweight, and that's enough reason for me to avoid it. I'd rather fix the swing.

there is a great website explaining a lot about clubmaking and customizing. There is a whole section on swingweight adjustment using tape:

Lead Tabe helps a lot I haved used it ion my wedges before and I have used drivers with it too. And if you need to it really help also if you club seems too heavy you can put lead tape up by the grip and "counter weight" the club which will make the head felel light while swinging. Also If you put some on the top of you putter it will make the ball roll truer becuase it will put more of a top spin affect and deloft to putter.

After I've grooved a somewhat consisted swing, I'll start tinkering with the lead tape. I'm still a ways off of getting to the place where I can appreciate lead tape. If I thought it would help groove my swing I'd use it in a heart beat, but a groove comes from proper practice.
