History of the Mizuno MP Line?

Trying to track down the history of the MP Line of irons made by Mizuno. I would guess that their was a Mizuno #1 at some point, however these are the following I actually know exist:

The Grad MP is not on your list.

Additionally, the first irons Mizuno produced were not known as "MP." The series was recognized as "MS" and began with MS1. It debuted in 1984 and ran through 1991 as the MS9.

There is also the special edition MP-100s, they looked awfully similar to the mp-67s, but those were out a few years ago.

The information about the MS and MP line dates back to 1983. I'm sure that there is something previous to this. However, as pertain to "blades" or "muscle backs", it is only 1983.

**Seems to be a type-o from the mizuno website. Mizuno has the MP-5 listed from 84-87 and the MS from 90-92. Looks as if these have been inverted as all the other MP versions were released after their MS counterpart. For this reason I have listed the dates as I think they should be.

Hi. I have a set of Mizuno Pro Originals which may be the first. I do not see a picture of it. I also know there were 3 markets ... Japan, Euro and USA .... so several were same heads with different numbers. The MS 7 is the same as TP 9 or 11. Also, for the guy that bought SS set on Ebay .... I would say they are the real deal. I have several unique sets and have been told by James at Mizuno USA there are many many variations and they had a custom shop as well so no one today really has the true history of all irons. Pretty sad really.

I'll try to post other odd sets .... just signed up for tis sight.

Hi just been reading this thread as have 2 sets of Mizuno Pro MS-5 (3-SW).

I purchase the first set about c.1992 new and have used them to death thus buying the second set for £65.00 on ebay last year, 2007, cheaper than having my old ones regripped and they've only been used a couple of times.

Reason for posting is that the my MS-5's (both sets) look more like the MP-5 image that you have rather than the MS-5. I'm about 99.9% sure that these are original Mizuno clubs but found it interesting that there was some difference in the look of them.

Any thoughts?? I've looked on ironfinders.com and the Mizuno site and am still a bit confused as to the difference. I have to say that I'd never change from Mizuno irons. If I could buy another set of the same I'd be a very happy man!!

I've also got TP-15 Hot metals (1.5, 3 and 5) woods which seem to do the job better than some of these Bertha woods that I see other golfers using.
