Golfbuddy V10 Screen Blank

I got a Golfbuddy V10 as a gift and the screen is completely blank.  When I turn it on, there's a light but no icons.  Is there a something I'm supposed to do the first time?  I've been trying to get an answer from the Mfg, but get crickets.  Their phone number is international and doesn't work.  My emails go unreturned other than an automated reply that tells me Lexi has it.  I also get an update notice every time I ask for an update.  It shows my request.
