Hello. I have Morton's neuroma in my right foot. I'm applying Ice hot with lidocaína and according to my doctor I have to wait for the next month to see any improvements or he has to do an injection.

So does any one have experienced this ?

Any advice for treatment or how to avoid this and other injuries?

Thanks

I used to have problems with it, but no longer. I remember I had a cortisone shot at one point, but the real key is your shoes. Make sure you aren't wearing shoes that are too tight or short in the toe box area. Any of your shoes, not just golf shoes.

Warning: I am not a medical professional. The above is my opinion based on personal experience.

Apply ice(top and bottom of forefoot like sandwich) for 30 minutes several times a day, 2-3x at the end of the day. Take 2 OTC Alleve tablets twice a day, 2 with breakfast and 2 with dinner, every day(**Assuming you don't have any medical contraindications to it). Get gel insoles focusing on a thick ball of foot area. They also make gel pads for just the balls of the feet. Wear them in all of your shoes. ALWAYS wear something on your feet. Running sneakers when outside and inside if possible. Crocs are great to wear in the house. No barefoot, socks only, slippers, sandals, flip flops. Make sure your shoes fit properly, especially not too narrow. Limit your non-essential activities. You can also massage the ball of the foot and do some stretching exercises. You really have to do ALL of the above things consistently. A little bit here and there is not as effective. They are additive. A month is reasonable before the next step which is a cortisone injection.

Thanks a lot for your advices, the pain was so hard that I had surgery already, it's been 4 months today, still swelling but improving very slow, part of the process according to the surgeon. And hungry to play  golf again ASAP. that may be in another 1 or 2 months. Cheers

You can continue to do all of the above even after having surgery. Maybe limit the Naprosyn to 1-2 week blasts. Have you tried orthotics? Or you can try something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0716J6G8X/ref=sm_n_au_dka_US_pr_con_0_0?adId=B0716J6G8X&creativeASIN=B0716J6G8X&linkId=67fadf82b2c646210e689d5da3b21050&tag=erikjb-20&linkCode=w41&ref-refURL=https%3A%2F%2Fthesandtrap.com%2Fforums%2Ftopic%2F105721-mortons-neuroma%2F&slotNum=0&imprToken=7f9a46cc737137470ab50670a58a25b5&adType=smart&adMode=auto&adFormat=grid&impressionTimestamp=1625840357496

    • Day 237 (26 Dec 24) - played 18 with niece and her husband at one of the local courses.  We were first out - so we pretty had our own pace of play.  First few holes were a struggle, but the groove started by hole 5.  The green side wedge game kicked in - had several kick in up and down pars.  Best of the day - had my first ever sandie birdie on #9. It’s a neat par three with a pot hole bunker - found it off the tee.  Had about a 22yd shot from the bunker to the flag.  Hit an easy shot out with the 54 that hit softly and gently rolled center cup.  Had several other close wedge shots into others that were close but no hole out.  Was a great day with the green side wedge game - and seeing solid fruit from the drills.
    • Day 16: 12/26/2025 A little more mirror work today. Then out to the garage net.  The first part of my PPJ swing thought is really starting to stick. The J still takes some focus. Plus, I'm still putting a priority on getting all the way to my finish.
