I did a lot of reasearch and found a good deal on a set of Wilson Pi5 irons (ebay).

This is my third set of Wilson irons. The other two where bought at thrift shops missing critical irons... The last, oversized perimeter weighted non-pro, non-staff Wilson irons came with a much needed 3 and 5 wood, but to my horror the 4 and 7 irons where missing($15, what can you do). I love these clubs and have shot some good rounds, and they encouraged me to stay with Wilson to fill in my set.

Without actually having tried them, I found out that the Pi5's are set up a little longer (and a different lie angle) than optimal for me. I am going to have them customized/fit for me.

If you play them, please tell me what you think:

What, if any modifications have you made to the clubs?
What grips/shafts did they come with?
Do you find the 3 iron useful (Have you replaced it with a Hybrid?)?
Do you think your game has improved with these clubs?
What is your handicap?
How long have you been playing?
What did you have before?
How much did you pay for them?

I did a lot of reasearch and found a good deal on a set of Wilson Pi5 irons (ebay).

I just stumbled uppn this post...sorry I missed it before. Here are my answers to your questions:

1.)I haven't made any modifications to them. I'm 6'2 and the extra length actually fits me nicely. 2.)Mine Came with Golf Pride Dual Durometer grips with the Wilson Staff logo and a nifty little W/S Badge in the end. They have DGX100 shafts. 3.)I love the 3 iron and have no plans to replace it. 4.)My game has improved dramatically with these irons. My previous set were Callaway X-18's. To me they offered very little feedback or punishment for moderate to severe mishits. When I began using the Pi5's I found out how poor my ballstriking really was and seriously began working on it. 5.)I don't have an official handicap, but I do track it with online calculators and now Scorecard. It is currently around 15, my lowest with the X-18's was a little over 18. 6.)This is the beginning of my 3rd year playing. 7.)See #4 8.)I paid $199 with free shipping from rockbottomgolf.com I really love these irons. They are not forged, but they are far and away the best feeling cast clubs I've ever hit. One of my previous sets of irons were circa 1999 Ben Hogan Apex Plus forged player's cavities and these feel very close to those. If there was one thing I would change about them it would be the progression of the set. i feel the change from undercut cavity on the 7 iron to player's cavity on the 8 is a bit abrupt. I wish there was a step between the 2 cavity sizes...maybe the 5,6,7 irons could be a smaller cavity than the 3 and 4 irons and leave the 8,9, and PW the way they are.

A Dunlop beginner set.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
