His advice, however, had little to do with the question posed by the OP.

He usually shoots out random advices which are totally irralevent to the topics.

To OP: always check your setup and posture. standing too far away or too close to the ball will cause shanks. also in my case, when my lower body moves too ahead of upper body. slow down a bit then back to regular speed when you are confortable without shanking.

Thanks for the advice guys. I went to the range earlier today (haven't read in this thread until now) and I was hitting the ball off the hosel to start with (irons and wedges), then I slipped a spare glove under my left arm (I do this from time to time to make sure my left arm stays in close to my chest), and the shanks went away! I was hitting nice little draws. Is the glove suppose to stay undr your left arm even in the follow through? Because it was falling out at the end of my follow through.

It also feels like I'm coming to far inside on my backswing (I take the club back first to start my swing, not letting it get behind my hands until waist height, then I'm not exactly sure of the location). Is this right? I know I swing inside-out.

Thanks

Contrary to popular belief, it's oftentimes the people who draw the ball who shank. It's usually not coming over the top - that more often results in contact towards the toe.

If I were you, I might make myself a little "channel" with tees or headcovers (or socks, or empty plastic pop bottles, or whatever) that's not quite so much "inside out". Swing through that in slow motion, slowly speed up (no balls yet), and when you can do that consistently, tee up a ball (so you don't take divots and have to keep moving your channel) and work on swinging through the channel and hitting a ball. If you clip the tee/bottle/sock/headcover, take a few more swings without a ball.

Are you saying make a straight channel directly in front of me (at address)? How wide exactly?
