I think i am going with the V2, either the HMOI, or the reg, in stiff.

Now, i am still debating between this, and the Aldila VS proto By you".

Anyone have any suggestions on wich? good or bad experiences with either?

Swing is around 90-100 MPH, lookin for a mid to low, a little forgiveness, still some distance, etc, price is really not an issue.

Any recomendations?

I have a stiff 65g v2 in my hibore 8.5 and absolutely love it. THE most solid shaft I have ever hit in a driver by far.
In my Vantage bag:

Irons:AP2 (Project X 5.5) (3-W)

The cliche answer would be, "Get fitted." But I guess you're just trying to fish out information so why not.

I have UST V2 Proforce 65g R installed in my driver (approx 95mph SS). They do produce low trajectory like they promised to. Here's the thing, if you're already low hitter I wouldn't suggest this shaft as you're going to sacrifice your ball carry hence your overall distance. The upside is that my shots become much more consistent using this shaft. I would say they've made me hit more fairways than before. I'm not sure about the HMOI because I haven't tried it although UST's online fitting recommended me either the V2 that I'm currently using now or the HMOI. I would guess that they're quite similar in characteristics. By the data provided from UST website, the HMOI 5060R has 3.8deg torque and the V2 6060R has 3.0deg torque. In other words HMOI will bend more in response to faster swing speed, which I think has something to do with feel. I guess it's good for someone with smooth swing tempo. Moreover, the HMOI would produce a bit higher trajectory compared to the V2. I can't comment much about the VS Proto. I only had the chance to try it like 3 times on demo day with Titleist 906F4 using VS Proto 80. One thing I do remember though that the VS Proto is solid that's for sure. I'm sure someone else could comment more than I do. Hope this info helps.

i play the vs proto shaft in my d2 driver. i like it so far. i am a high ball hitter so not sure this was the best choice. I probably should have went for a shaft that gives me a lower/boring trajectory.

Thank you fusion.

Being 15, not a whole lot of guys there take me sersiously, i asked the one employee for some advice, he said hed get right to me, and never came back. =( The extent of my testing was a stiff v2 in a titleist D2, and a reg V2 in a G5. The Stiff was a bit much, i had to really focus on loading it to get it goin, and i did notice a low ball flight, even in the 50 foot hitting cage. So i think i may go with the HMOI version, still unsure, as im looking for a medium ball flight that can still be knocked down.

Thanks, Brian.

    • Day 170: 6/10/24 Indoor chipping. Taking it easy on my right elbow.
    • Day 88. Two 10 minute sessions working on full swing technique into the net. Didn’t feel great. Not sure if I’m just off today or if it was because I’m learning to move slightly differently, which would be a good thing.
    • Did chest and shoulders today. I'm really enjoying how this mass building workout is getting me to feel so much stronger. I've gone up in weights on most lifts quicker than I have in previous workouts. While my goal is really to get more fit overall, lean muscle mass will go a long way towards reaching that. I really want to start the couch to 5k running program as well.  I had done that once many years ago and it just stripped fat off of me. Even losing close to 100 pounds the last couple of years, my belly is still soft and protruding a bit.  Going to try and play 9 on Wednesday but a few things need to fall into place for that to happen. Hope I can continue the better ball striking I experienced my last time out. Details to come lol.
    • I am a little late on the posting of this topic, but with the big event almost here I thought it would be interesting to explore. In late April, we hosted a local qualifier and the FSGA came out on behalf of the USGA on 2 occasions to scout tees and pin positions (they had notes from the last one 6 years ago). The course ended up playing just under 7000 and they did bump down some of the par 3s to play at 210, 205, 185, and 170 (they can all be from 195-230). They wanted the greens fast, but not US Open fast (I think they wanted 10.8 to low 11s). The FSGA guys picked the pin placements and made sure it was a good balance for a very great test of golf. The medalist was -3, three were -1 and even par got you into a playoff.  How do you think your course would hold up to pros showing up to show off their skills to go to the next stage?  Here is a video highlighting one person's experience followed by a few photos of Tiger scoping out the course with Charlie during his practice round. All in all, it was a great day and I felt that the course held its own as only 4 golfers (out of 80) broke par.
