Hey DFB...where are you at in Jersey? I lived in Central Jersey while in college. There are many nice courses in that area. In fact, I worked at the TPC at Jasna Polana for 2 seasons and played Springdale (on Princeton's Campus) many times.

Ive moved around alot. I lived in South jersey for a few years and picked up the game down there. I live in North Jersey, now. I must say I prefer south jersey courses to North Jersey ones, but I still don't know much about where to play up here. I was a member at cream ridge and I drove all the way down there over the weekend to play there with some friends. Nice course for the money.

played my first round yesterday. have a sligh right hand injury (middle finger/knuckle) but it didnt affect my swing fortunately.

Shot an 86 (par 71) which was better than i hoped. I went to the range for an hour last week, before that I hadn't touched my clubs since September. I had a number of shanks and skulls, and really couldn't hit much.

But on the course i got back into the groove, thinking about the shot and not the swing.

Still my sandwedge was a bit rusty and was off on a few of my irons (ending in the bunker 3 times). Lost some accuracy on my fwy woods, plus to boot the greens were also much slower than usual.

So with 4 doubles on those holes with the unusual mishits I only went 7 over on the other 14 holes. That part I'm quite happy with. I should be able to get back comfortably below 85 where I usually play to my 9 hdcp.

I'm playing a team event on Fri 5/16... 27 holes... three 9 hole better ball matches plus a playoff to the flight winners.

I'm definitely excited for this years golf and all the matches

Hello,

I am also new to this forum. I live in Livingston and have played Francis Byrne for the first time. Liked the course. Hope to get to know everyone better.

Hello,

Welcome,

I played Byrne a lot in the past, they shove groups off each 8 minutes, which backup on the 2nd hole... front 9 takes 3 hrds on the wkd, back nine about 2.5. You still find that's the case? I prefer the Morris Cty course, Flanders is quite nice and they keep you to 4.5 hrs.

Welcome,

I have only played there once. It moved pretty well. However the day I played, it had rained earlier so it wasn't peak time. It did take about 5 hours in total though. How do you guys put the club info as the signature?

click on User CP on the top.

click on Edit Signature click on "more" under the smilies, it pops up with the club maker icons.

Thanks for your reply. For whatever reason I don't have the edit signature function available. Oh well. Anyone else have this problem?

Thank you, everybody in this message board has been so helpful.

Hopefully I will be good enough one day to contribute my own tips and advice.

    • Swing check. Cons: The countertop drill hasn't taken yet. Not crazy about A5 to A6 hand path. Pros: Decent BS width at A2 and right elbow at A4. All in all, not terrible but meh..
    • Day 74 (14 Jul 25) - Late afternoon session w/9i, magnetic alignment stick, Divot board and hard foam balls.  Worked on getting the face square at setup and then returning to same through the swing.  The lines on the Divot Board served as referenced parallels for the alignment stick.  Did hit a few balls about 30 total - half with using the alighment stick on the club face and half without.  First time working with the magnetic alignment rod - really reveals when you have the face closed/open/etc.
    • I mean, that is what I figure would be the case.  My mind is just trying to wrap around the idea that 22" left = feet aiming like 15 yards left visually. It's like in a CADD system, if the flag is the base point when you scale an image, it stays in the same spot as you get closer (scale up) or get further away (scale down).  I can image how if you have a 10-yard chip, it could look much more like your feet are aimed nearly 22" left of the flag.  Now I want to try to make some measurements and quantify this 🤣.  Yes, they do. Yea, that is true.
    • Closer to like 22" than 36. Why wouldn't the target line (ball) be at the target (flag) with your feet parallel left of that? Perception messes with a lot of people. Almost all righties tend to aim to the right, because what feels parallel left — particularly given that your eyes are "between" the ball and your feet — feel like they're pointed MILES left even when they're square. Also, there's no rule that you have to be parallel left of the target line. I like to be slightly open at setup.
    • Depends on the lie, pin location, green.  I would say most of my pitches are with my 60-degree.  Its probably like 90% 60-degree, 10% 56 degree.
