I've played for a long time, but i just now signed to get a handicap. today i enetered 12 rounds that i have played this past year. Some were at the home course, and some were not. However, it showed my handicap as NH. I have heard that 20 rounds are required, 5 rounds, and 10 rounds. What do i need to do to get it show me my index? thanks

I am not sure about all handicap services but ghin updates twice a month - whatever service you use will probably show your handicap within a couple of weeks

It's the same - my handicap doesnt change every time i enter scores - its only on update days. Also you only need 5 scores for an index to be generated.

When i first got my handicap, I had to play 5 rounds of competition golf with a member/marker.

thats was 3-4 years ago.

It is all done by our clubhouse, every month or so, they will right down our current index on our monthly email.

If your using GHIN, then you need to input 5 rounds in order to get a Handicap Index. Every two weeks your golf association will do a revision and that is when you will see what your index is, until then you'll see NH.

Dogfood, (Im not sure how I feel calling someone that but anyway), in that case check with your golf association to see how many rounds you need to post before you get your index because it looks like it varies w/ different associations.

In North Carolina, which I believe all are run by Carolinas Golf Association (CGA), the computers calculate an instant index as soon as any scores are input into the local computer. The official handicap is calculated and uploaded at the start of every month. After the first month, both the official and instant home handicap and index are always viewable on your home course computer.

Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) updates official handicap indexes twice a month.

Clipped & pasted from - http://www.carolinasgolf.org/ "All Carolinas clubs must observe the same revision or update schedule. All clubs that offer handicaps to golfers in the Carolinas must revise or update USGA handicap indexes twice a month on the first and 15th of each month. This gives Carolinas clubs 24 revisions per year. Clubs that do not observe this revision schedule cannot refer to their handicaps as USGA handicaps."
