Hi mates. The other day in the Range I saw this Titleist club and I really like the club. I ask the guy in there if he recommend it to me and he told me that with my handicap I would pass a hard time with that club.

I hate when they told me that, in fact I realized that I hit batter the X-Forged than my X20 Tour and they told me the same that I will have a hard time with the X20 Tour.

So I want to ask to you guys, what is your opinion about this club. I was looking for a 5 wood but I think that a hybrid could work. Oh yeah I will try it first, but first I want to hear your opinions.

Thank you very much.

Regards!

I think the assumption is that all Titleist clubs are Players Clubs...WRONG--that 585 H is available for all handicaps...just because it says titleist doesnt mean that its not forgiving...I find the 585 H to be very playable for all types of players

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

Meh, the 585 is definitely not for everyone. I'd say <18, probably more for 15s and less. I see no problem for you though. Just curious, would you switch to a 52 58 wedge set up? I've been thinking about grabbing a 2 hybrid, or going to the 50-54-58 set up.

I find my hybrid pretty square and straight with good workability, and is not nearly as hook biased as some others I have tried.
Off centre hits do lose a bit more distance than some others (Callaway X, Taylormade Rescue etc)

The 585 has a square set up and I liked it when I tried it. I didn't have a hard time hitting it at all, and I usually shoot 78-83. Take that for what it's worth, but I don't see a reason the OP couldn't use it. Just have to try it out and see.

The 585.H isn't for everyone. It has a smaller sweet spot and plays a bit more like a long iron than most other hybrids. The 585.H should be used by good long iron players among the higher or mid-handicappers or among low handicappers.

It's easy to work, not very forgiving (particularly on mis-hits), and offers no slice correction or assistance.

Yeap, if I buy the Hybrid I will take out the 50° wedge.

Although the club is definitely not for everyone, I think that club fitters are a little to "discriminatory" (for lack of a better word) when it comes to fitting mid and high handicappers. Alhtough the majority may, not all mid and high handicappers have uncontrollable over the top slices like many assume. Iacas hit the button when he says that the 585.H plays morelike a long iron. If you feel that your long iron game is up to par and that you can handle a square setup with no offset, then I think that you will do alright with that club.

    • Day 206 3-11 Focused on wider backswing and reconnecting arm in downswing. Wasn't really happy with how swing was looking today. Wider backswing is very different for me. Went back to do a some longer pauses at the top. Hit a few foam balls.
    • This is an awesome breakdown. most of the bigger tournaments usually have one wave with the advantage, Thank you for the breakdown. If it is soft then it will be a lower final score
    • Over the past 15 years, the winning score has ranged from -10 to -20. Mostly around -13.  Here is Thursday and Friday weather. Saturday and Sunday weather. I think the course will play soft. Plenty of sky cover, lots of rain on Thursday. Fairways and greens will probably stay soft throughout the week.  In terms of tee times, I think Thursday morning and Friday afternoon have the biggest advantage. • We have a very difficult but mostly showy course this week. Lets see what they got. This course offers so many chances to get into trouble it is really a mental minefield. I am excited to see who can handle it and who cant. Last year we got a foreshadowing of JJ and Rory, I am excited for this year Who do people have winning? what will the winning score be? I am thinking 12 or 13 under
