I've been Playing Golf for: 25 years
My current handicap index or average score is: 5
My typical ball flight is: high draw
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: weak cut

Videos:

I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to keep my lead wrist from breaking down just after impact and through the follow thru. I've gotten myself to create lag and some forward shaft lean but it's very obvious that my arms and shoulders stall when I put the club to the ball. This definitely reduces my potential swing speed and can cause a weaker flip if it happens too early.  I'm hoping for any drills or feel to biomechanically get my upper body to continue their momentum through the finish and I simply can't get myself to do it.  the club ends up perpendicular to my arms when they're parallel to the ground during the finish.

Good slow motion video from correct angles here is required. People flip for all sorts of reasons and it’s rarely simply because they need to train their wrists or something.

Well, to me the answer is kinda clear…

You're so "crowded" or "narrow" here that you have to throw the hell out of it.

The time you have spent working on "lag" has probably been detrimental. You have too much too late, so of course you "throw it away."

It was mostly work to avoid throwing it away far earlier than that, which included keeping hip bend to avoid early extension and shallowing. Losing my angles has been a problem for decades for me and I started over-exaggerating things in order to attempt to fix it.

Yeah, well, the fix is actually going to include throwing away the angles much sooner. Getting very WIDE early in the downswing (and not getting so narrow during the backswing, too).

    • Day 29 - good 45 minute session at range, 20 minutes putting with compass drill from 3', 4', 5'. 20 minutes of chipping work, focused on working different ball flights.

    • Something just popped into my head, based on your mention of the folks who "know the rules" but are generally wrong.  Another comment I read was "the Rules ALWAYS said.....".  When I come across those I often go to  www.ruleshistory.com to see if the rules ever said that.  You can find every (almost?) version of the rules since the first set in 1744.  Its fun to return to the conversation and say "You're a little bit right, the rules said that at one time, but that changed in 1984.  You've been playing under the wrong rule for 40 years!"
    • Hi, checking back in to see if any St. Louis area golfers get together for a round or three during the year.  I have recently dropped my membership in a local league this year to work on my game and meet other people.  I would love to hear from anyone that would be interested in meeting for a round in the St. Louis area.   Rick
