If I practice a lot and hit fat shots, I have the same feeling. Ice works for me to help the pain. I put a bag of frozen peas on my arm after the pain starts for about 30 minutes. I then go 30 on, 1 hour off for ice for about 3 cycles. It seems to help.

As far as the cause, I think it's the same reason you are thinking, and that's a too straight left arm.

cool thx...thats what i figured

It sounds to me that you are hitting way to much of the "BIG BALL" The only thing that makes your elbows hurt is blunt trama with the ground, I know it was happening to me so I changed to grafite iron shaft's, but you already have that. The only other thing you can do after you ice for a few days and calm it down is become more of a sweep striker of the golf ball. Play every shot off the middle of your stance and put the same swing on your irons that you would your 3 wood. It'll take a few bucket's of balls but if you set up with the face a tick open and swing with a slight cut swing it goes very straight and lands very soft, plus your elbow doesn't hurt. Try it....bwgolfer

It's probably just too much squeezing with the left hand and your arm is too tense and locked. I use to squeeze and overlock my left arm and I sometimes got forearm cramps along with a huge block-slice. I've been taking lessons now and that's fixed.

I agree with the above statement. If your left elbow hurts you may be descending into the ground too much with your swing.

I just remembered something that helped me when I had the same problem. Try this: Take your normal stance, and then move your hips about 2 inches towards your target while keeping your head and feet in the same place. That will angle your spine a little away from the target and result in a more shallow angle into the ball.

My pro had me do that and I have had less problems with elbow pain since then.

I had the same problem and graphite shaft fix everything. The other problem is that it is early in the year and will get worse as the course will be dryer and harder... try to correct this as fast as possible before the summer and heat...
If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

i agree, i went out yesterday and it seemed a LOT better...i tried to sweep the ball like someone said earlier and it was a better looking shot and more solid contact..

    • By today’s standards that’s certainly true, but they weren’t having any trouble hitting golf balls in 2005 so I’ve equipped myself with what was among the very best equipment around that time for a very reasonable investment. If I get to the point where I feel like I’ve outgrown that stuff, I’ll reward myself with something more current. But for now I don’t need adjustable loft and lie and modern head shape, just a good quality, proven club with a clean club face. For now I’m going to concentrate on the basics. I know you can get more yardage with newer woods, but I don’t care about distance nearly as much as consistency, and you can’t buy that for any price.

    • Trying to feel bit more external rotation of the trail elbow at A4. I think better than what have ever been able to position it.  Forward lunge at impact still a work in progress.
    • Because you're twisting it to hold it open. Forearms, etc. shouldn't be all that tense at setup.
