You get what you pay for, usually. They don't look reputable to me. If I'm spending $800+, I prefer to see and hold stuff prior to purchasing.

Don’t buy clubs from Ask for golf (askforgolf.com) unless you want to buy fakes. After a lot of searching to find what I thought were genuine clubs at the right price, I purchased some Callaway clubs (X-20 right handed) from askforgolf. When I asked how I could be sure they were genuine Callaway clubs, not fakes, they assured me they were genuine, and this was evidenced by the fact they had genuine serial numbers on the shafts.

When the clubs arrived, I was concerned that they were shipped from China, when the address on the web site was in the USA. I had a friend who worked in the industry, do a check on the serial number ( on the hossell of the 8 iron) through a Callaway representative. The serial number was from Callaway, however it was issued to a set of X-18 left hand clubs. These clubs were not genuine Callaway. I emailed this information to askforgolf to enquire where to return them so I could receive a refund on goods that had been clearly misrepresented. They suddenly changed their story, and said the clubs were OEM (original equipment manufacturer) clubs, and that they were great clubs, and they do not accept them back. OEM clubs are not the same as the genuine article, and you have no way of knowing just what quality you have purchased. These clubs were very overpriced non genuine clubs. I tried every avenue to return the clubs. The address on their site is bogus. The information on the packing slip that came with the clubs turned out to be bogus. Basically they have made sure you can never get the clubs back to them, and without a signed receipt for return of the clubs, Visa would not return the charge, even though they could easily see form the email trail that I had been deceived into buying misrepresented items. This company must know that if they make sure no one can ever send the clubs back, the credit card companies will never reverse the charge. Therefore my advice is to never purchase anything from askforgolf, as they sell fakes, and they have set themselves up for fraud and deception and are running a scam.

As they are fake ,does that mean the quality is very poor ,or would you be able to use them anyway????

The quality seems ok, but I haven't used them a lot yet. The main issue is price. Askforgolf charge about the same internet price as you pay for genuine clubs. There are Callaway 'approved' sites that sell for not much more than what askforgolf charges for clubs whose quality is indeterminate. Not much point in taking the risk, if there is no significant price disadvantage.

I just checked out this website. Its not even that cheap. They have Cleveland CG12s for $155 thats more than I paid for custom fitted CG12s including upgrades to shaft and grip from my pro.

Is it easy to see that they are fake just by looking at them ?
How do they compare to the real thing(performance wise)?

Just found the Sand Trap site, (thank goodness) I was about to order some Ping G10 irons from askforgolf, thought I would run a check via Google before placing my order, so thanks for the warning......

I just bought a set of irons from them still haven't received them yet. But I noted on the EM trail that it is shipped from China. But when I checked my credit card charges, www.askforgolf.com is in Riga, Latvia. It's too bad I didn't see these comments earlier. I wonder what I got in my package!

The reason I bought from them was that the address was in the US and thought Internet merchants are better regulated.

Please explain this.
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. That's what Callaway, Ping and TaylorMade etc. are, OEM equipment. If they aren't Callaway, they aren't OEM. They are COUNTERFIT.

Hi all,

I've purchased a few days ago Titleist AP2 irons from askforgolf.com and I just read this thread looking for confirmation that they sell genuine clubs and it doesn't seem so...

I haven't received them yet. Could everyone confirm these clubs are fake ones ?
In this case, is there any way of cancelling the payment before the delivery ?

I would be very grateful if you could avoid me spending 800USD for a piece of steel !

Sorry for my bad english, I'm french currently living in Finland

Thanks everyone for your help

If you were all smart, you would be reporting this site to the manufactures and trying to close it down. Also, refuse to pay your credit card charges. You cannot be forced to pay for counterfeit goods.

Thanks, I'll call my bank tomorrow to try to get the payment cancelled and I'll send a message to Titleist about that web site...

I've received the following answer to my request a few minutes ago :

----quote------
We ship from China where the major golf brand have their factories.
We only sell genuine OEM clubs with serial numbers.

Should you have further questions about the information given above,
please reply directly to this email, including our original text.
This will help us to deal with your inquiry much faster.

Do you think being suspicious is enough to get a payment cancelled ? Their answer is pretty clear...

Thanks all !

    • I unknowingly ordered what would sort of be considered a staff bag. It is the 14 divider version of the Titleist staff bag and was stated on the website to be a staff bag "light" (Titleist Tour Premium Cart Stadry), but it is pretty big. Love it though.

Mind you, he did not recommend specific club but rather to what consider and how to plan.  What a great day for course management education at the next level.
